Is anyone having a problem with your own banner on the phone coming on every now and then and most of the time it just displays Verizon Wireless (inside screen).

I was told by one of our tech's that this was done so that the user would know whether they were in a Verizon area, extended network or roaming. Lots of people don't look for the solid or flashing triangle on the top of the screen. The newer PRL's seem to overide the banner of the phone so you would know if you're being charged for the call or not.

I'm guessing ALL motorola phones do it, my V60 and C343 does it all the time. I'm guessing that when you press a key on the phone, it comes up as Verizon Wireless, and eventually it'll come up as your banner.
I like this feature with Verizon phones b/c I don't think you can do this with other carriers; my friend was telling me the other day that she liked how my banner was my name, and she didnt like hers cuz her phone banner says T-mobile all the time.

I think it still has something to do with the PRL's (monthly *228 updates) because the V60's, V120's & T720's used to always read your banner up to about a year ago or so, ever since then it switches between your banner & Verizon. Hope this helps

My LG did the same ever since I got it over 2 yrs ago. I think verizon programs it into their phones. It's convenient when you're on the ext network or roaming, but I wish it would stay on the banner when you're on the reg VZW network. 😕

My V710 goes back and forth between Verizon Banner and custom Banner.

My Motorola T730 did the same thing.

Actually, it is controlled by the ERI (enhanced roaming indicator). It can be edited and change with the Motorola PST. It is used to tell if you are roaming, on the extended network, or on verizon's network. I have mine edited to show:

No Roam: "Hello Moto"
Extended Network: "Extended Moto"
Roaming: "Roaming Moto"

That's just cool... and my V80 has the Hello Moto ringtone too. All I need is the Extended Moto and Roaming Moto ringtones... ;-) Now, only if we can get p2kman to work.
