Verizon, Austin, TX sold me two on Sunday

My hubby and I were waiting to change from AT&T until Verizon had a bluetooth phone (we are already addicted).

We went to our local Verizon store to find out details of plans and such. They already had ten in inventory and sold us two of them.

They gave us buy one get one free on accessories.

Hubby's camera is just showing "no signal." he has to take his back today.

Mine seems to work fine. I tried to transfer my address book from my old phone via bluetooth, but my V710 thought my T68i was a headset?

It will be interesting to see how things pan out.

But... what a fun new toy!!!!!

No, he said they didn't have any in stock. He'd have to order them.

We told the verizon sales guy why we were there (to learn more about their service and figure out what we wanted for when we 'could' buy the phone). He told us about their plans and options, tinkered on his computer and asked us to wait while he went in the back.

When he came back, he said that they had ten in inventory and he had called his supervisor and he gave him the permission to sell them early.

We didn't have to convince him at all. I was REALLY surprised.

Lethe,

Please report on your reception quality! I'm shopping for a phone right now, with the intention of moving to Austin next year. I hear AT&T has poor reception all over town so I'm really interested how well Verizon works, and I'd especially like to know the performance of the V710.

Thanks

Well now - that answers A LOT of questions for the people who were saying that Verizon versions of this phone would already have the updated firmware.

Thank you Lethe for clearing that up 😁 😁 😁

No problem. The verizon guy told me they knew there were software problems and that a fix would come out eventually.

BTW, it come with a CD that is supposed to tell you how to work the phone, but the website it links to is not up and running yet. I have the book though, it has been helpful.

I really want the Bluetooth to be fixed. I really don't want to have to manually input all my contacts and I don't know how to dowload and upload them to and from my computer.

Normally the VZW store has a way to transfer all those names/numbers for you. You should give them a call and see if they have that ability. My v60c just quit for the last time last week and they replaced it with a v60s until the 710 comes out and they were able to transfer all the names/numbers for me.

Don't you just love the speaker-phone on that damn phone? Wish the V710 speaker-phone could be used with the flip closed.

Can they also transfer names/numbers across different brand phones? For example, tranferring the names/numbers from an LG to a Moto?

yes... bascially they have their own software where they upload your numbers to their computer and then download them to the new phone. they have all the necessary adapters. some places do charge a fee like, $5 because they are so busy, but if they try doing that with me this time, I am going to tell them they should be paying me for waiting so long for the v710.

I guess I got lucky. my hubby brought his back because of camera problems and the store rep tried to give him **** about taking it back where he bought it, until someone else stepped in and told her that they had put them in inventory and were sellling them.

My hubby combined all our outlook files and downloaded our old phonebooks into outlook. We are tweaking the outlook file and then will upload it into our phone.

I am lucky my hubby has more of a clue about this stuff than I do.

I have had Sprint and AT&T. You want to have Verizon out here. The other carriers work almost everywhere with some dropout, but nothing compared to Verizon. I work in a building originally built by DELL for the DELL executives.

No one's phones work in the building except for Verizon. I know people who use other carriers, you just can't beat the Verizon reception.

So far my V710 is everything I wanted and expected. The guys at the store confirmed there would be a software update sometime to fix the bluetooth issues.

Knowing there would be bluetooth issues, I am very happy with everything else. Even my hubby who had camera issues, went in today and they just replaced his phone, no problems.

Austin is great! We will be happy ...

Thanks so much for the heads-up. I really wanted bluetooth, so it looks like Verizon's V710 offering is the perfect match for my needs.

Thanks again!
