Motorola V710
Issues with RS V710
The headset linked with the phone w/o any problems. I cannot however send or receive a photo image. The local Verizon store agent thinks its the software. Initially, she found a block on my account and removed it but it still would not work.
The other issue is phone tools will not recognize the V710. I called Motorola on this and they tell me the RS sold V710 has software issues that will be solved in future releases.
I also want to point out the schmuck employee at the VZW store in Short Hills, NJ who should be fired for his lack of customer service skills. Aft...

that employee at verizon was telling it like it is. verizon told me that one of the advantages of sticking with them for phone purchases is their support...and that buying a RS phone or another sellers phones means less support.....
good luck!

Do you guys have any idea how long it would take to reprogram all these phones (coming from China), repackage, and redistribute? A hell of a lot longer than the 1.5 weeks lag between RS and VZW selling the phone. Hell, even Motorola has been advertising the phone is available at RS (and at VZW online store) since the 3rd of August.
Bottom line, both RS and VZW will have the same dame phone in the same box with the same firmware.
If you buy a phone from Radio Shack with Firmware 1.0 and Operating Software 1.0. And lets say that come next week Motorola fixes some problems in there firm- and software. Say version's 1.0.1 for the firm and 1.1 for the soft.
If you registered your phone and signed up for email alerts you will receive an email or it will be printed on your next paper bill that there is a update and to either call the setup number on your phone and follow the instructions or bring your phone in to any Motorola phone service center. And they will do it. It takes about 5 minutes.

Ok..one more time...
Verizon... not Motorola sets the release date.
Verizon has to set up it's system to be able to use this phone.
There is no "official" release date. There never has been. No one has ever ever ever ever ever released a press statement that said the phone would be out on the 11'th.
Find me one and post it here and I will apologize.
Motorola can sell its pones to anyone they want. Verizon did not "contract" or "commission" this phone. They like everyone else saw it a trade show. Liked it...and talked to Motorola about selling it. Some phone manufactures will sign a exclusive contract with a carrier but that doesn't mean ...

As I look on my calendar and see it is only August 6th I wonder why people are so upset that the phone is "delayed"
Lets say that "they" did say the phone would be out the 11th of August. Then why is everyone so upset that the phone is "delayed" The 11th isn't here yet... Why don't we wait untill the 12th then say the phone is delayed.
The way many here seem to talk about those who bought phones from RS, they are under the impression that RS pulled the rug out from VZW. If Verizon did not want them selling the phones they could have simply refused to activa...

Other then NE2 there is absolutely no difference where you buy your phone from (New Retail purchases). I purchased mine from RS and still have the VZW Total Equipment Coverage on my phone. Unless I am missing something I have a contract with Verizon Wireless not Radio Shack to provide me Wireless phone service for which I will pay them (VZW) not RS. If a VZW retail employee told you to take a hike because you did not buy a phone from their store, I would take his name down, drive home and call VZW and raise Holy Hell!
