Ok I know for phones like nextel theres a usb connection in order to get mp3's onto your phone as ringtones but since there is no usb connection for the 710 can somebody explain to me plz how'd that work? As well as getting jpeg files onto the phone as backgrounds? Thanks

I'm no expert, but I believe that there are two ways:

1-Via Bluetooth
2-Via the proprietary connection at the bottom... I assume that it would connect to a computer via the usb port like a PDA would. I believe that this phone synchronizes with PIM data on your computer.

For those who use the phone: How correct am I?

Well, knowing Verizon, both of those will be disabled by default and you will need to use GIN.

Good thing that I don't care about ringtones, because I'll hate them, no matter how soothing they may be.

I think one more method might be via the TransFlash memory card slot in the phone unless Verizon has Motorola make the firmware in the phone so that you can only write and delete from the card slot (and not read). Knowing Verizon and how they don't want people to get around "Get It Now", it will probably be write and delete only.
