I really wonder about the psychology of all this.

I'm looking forward to potentially upgrading to the V710, but I figure that I'll wait a few months after release to make sure that I don't get stuck with a lemon that I'll hate.

If it really is legitimately on Ebay, it's either an insider selling a trial version or somebody figuring that it'll be out soon enough and selling it ahead of time. It may not have the same firmware as the release version, may have problems that are fixed later, etc. It is guaranteed to be obselete as a cool phone as soon as the V710 make...

Yeah, not only that, beware people playing on the anticipation of a new device and "selling" something they don't have. Awhile back someone was selling a PDA that hadn't been released yet (in fact, hadn't even been manufactured yet), and the auctions were shut down once Ebay was notified. You wouldn't want to be out $X00 *and* a phone that was never released...it's bad enough they announce phones that Verizon never allows on their network.

So just a word of caution...if anyone sells (not pre-sells with disclaimers) you a phone that doesn't exist, be mindful of fraud. That's not to say there aren't people with legit phones that may not be in the mainstream yet, but do exercise due diligence.
