I'm upgrading on Verizon's 2 year obligation. They offer the v710 for "free" with rebate. I'm not very phone savy but am mainly looking for a tri-mode, good pic/video, good reception. Blue Tooth is ok. I'm reading a fair bit about the downsides of the v710. Is this in response to the once high price, or is this really the lemon that some folks are making it out to be. I'm open to any input or other phone options y'all might have. Thanks!

It's no lemon and worth getting. The pic/video is average at best, but the reception, BT, MP3 player, and other features are great. I love this phone and plan to keep it for several years. If you can get it free, go for it!

Phone Tech has the figures,, However, if I went to the local Radio Shack/Verizon dealer (rural town), it WOULD be about $150.

IMO, the camera isn't any good. Maybe newer phones are better, but I haven't gotten it to take a good picture yet. I've seen pics from the Samsung A670 and one of the LG models and they are much better.

The display is very good. I can resize pics from my digital camera, put them on the phone, and they look great!

I have no complaints about the reception or volume. The smaller 2, 5, and 8 keys are a pain at times.

Funny - I just went through this exact thing 2 days ago. I ended up getting the v710 for myself and my wife for free ($100 new every 2, $50 rebate). I really wanted bluetooth, so this was my only option (I'm sure they'll have some hot new bluetooth model out shortly).

In any event, I'm really pleased with the phone. I upgraded from a Samsung a530. The first thing I noticed is the phone quality - my Samsung had a noticeable delay in transmitting that made conversations difficult. That delay is totally gone with this phone, and the signal is much cleaner. Voice recognition, bluetooth, Speaker phone and the display are all great.

As for those that complain about the camera, I've found it to be good with sufficient lighting (such as ...

I got a V-710 on May 02, I am very happy so far but am having a few problems maybe you can give me some advise. Can you turn off the phone and turn off the blue head set, turn back on and have it in sync? If I turn the phone off I am ok, If both I have to re sync.
I have been loosing the connection between the headset and the phone a few times. Should I be concerned or looking to get in line at the store for help?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike - I tried to reproduce that, but no matter what order I turned the phone or headset off in, I never had any problem resynching. My headset has worked pretty much flawlessly. Are you using the "official" Motorola headset ?
