no it is not crippled. it does not allow you to transfer sound files from the transflash to your phone tho. but as mentioned in the board several times, there are several ways to get around it...just a little inconvenient.

hope that helps

Just looking for an opinion here:

I take very few pictures (and when I do, I don't keep them on the phone very long).

I don't use the video (except once in 6 months).

I sent 4 ringtones from walmart.com to the phone and doubt I'll bother with any/many more.

So...is there ANY reason I should consider the TF card? Is there anything it does that I'm not considering and that I might find useful?

Thanks for any opinions/suggestions.

One thing I use the transflash for is to put a couple of albums on it to listen to. I have a few songs I have to learn for church choir and so have them available anytime. I bought the Motorola wired stereo headphones/mic which work well, though less convenient than bluetooth ones would be.

Saves having to carrry around a separate .mp3 player. Of course, what would be nice is if Moto would include the V710 in their connection with iTunes.

Cool idea! Thanks.

A couple more Qs:

What does all that listening do for battery life? Is it a hefty drain or not too bad?

What s/ware is required to do that?

What size TF are you using to get 2-3 albums on the phone?

Thanks again. 😁

Battery life doesn't seem to take a big hit, that I've noticed. (My main battery problem is that my office gets very poor reception so the phone is flipping between No service, Analog, or 1 bar. That chews up a battery.)

No extra software is needed really. If you have songs stored as .mp3 then you hook up your transflash and copy them to file motorola>shared>audio. Then put the TF back in the camera and the songs should show up in the Media Gallery/Sounds. You can play a single song or create a Playlist with multiple songs. You can use the fast forward, reverse, pause or stop using the arrow keys. If you click Hide then you can close the phone and it will keep playing.

I use the 128 MB TF and got about two albums on. It depends on the...

By the way, even if you don't have headphones, the phone plays pretty well out loud, using its speakerphone. Not real high-quality, but recognizable and enjoyable.

Every couple of days or so, Amazon.com has a very limited supply of the 256mb TransFlash for 43.99 + FREE SuperSaver shipping. It is the lowest, after shipping, bottomline price that I have found.

Quite a bit better than ebay, after you add-in the shipping, insurance, and any other ticky-tack charge they can think of. Has ebay ever had a legitimate, Bottomline, to-your-door price on a new item that another online retailer doesn't meet or beat? Or am I just unlucky?

Be careful of the 1-click purchase, or you will have two coming as I do.

If you are not saving alot of pictures/videos/mp3s then you probably dont want to get the transflash card.

I use it to transfer wallpapers, music, pictures, videos back and forth from my phone...if you dont plan on doing that you probably dont need one, its nothing more than memory 🙂

hope that helps
