i have sent music clips to my phone and they are saved as .MID files. they get to my phone fine, but it gives me the choice to store only. It won't allow me to set as a ring tone or anything. can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong? i'd really appreciate the help.
thank you!!!

I'm not entirely sure, but I think you have to store them first, then you can go to the various functions and set the stored tones as ringers. Are you storing them when asked, or are you not because you're expecting other options at that time? 🙂

I think you need to go to the Ringers settings (not to the Sound settings) to make it your ringer. Also, go to each person individually to set a ringer ID.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. It still did not work, though. grr perhaps this may help you help me; when i am playing the song and then go to details the type of the file is QCP. does that have anything to do with my problem? Thanks again!

It's possible. All mine are .mp3's I sent over disguised as .mid's.

So, you've gone to

settings>ring styles>soft>soft detail>calls

and then looked for your ringtone and selected it? and it won't play that tune when a call comes in?

And for your personalized ringer id you goto

settings>ring styles>soft>soft detail>ringer ids>on

and that doesn't work either? (I know I'm being obsessive, but it pays to lay out all the details)

If that's the case, then I'm stumped.... ☚ī¸

Glad you found something that worked.

May I ask, what size TF and what it cost? I'm thinking about getting one, too.

i bought the 128 mb for $34. well worth the money. i've already got 10 songs and a bunch of images on my phone. it's fast and easy to use. i have a printer that has several different media slots - the transflash comes w/ an adaptor - so i did not have to buy a reader or anything but i think those run about 20 bucks. W/ the transflash card you can constantly change songs and images on your phone whereas when you send them to your phone you have to keep track if you have a package...also read some of the info people have posted about how to use. you must turn your phone off before removing the card or putting in the phone. also if you use a mac you must use something called iclean on the transflash. it's all really simple. hope all the info h...

With the 1.40.OR firmware release you don't have to turn off the phone when inserting or removing the transflash card. It is 'hot swappable'.

Hi folks,

I'm having the same ringtone problems with my Motorola v710. I do know that this topic has been going on extensively in the Forum and I was surprised to see how widespread the problem is.

After acquiring the ringtones, I have renamed them from .mp3 files to .mid (not .midi) and uploaded the files to the phone via the trans card. I've then 'moved' them to the phone's memory where I can then view them along with all of the preloaded tones in the ringtones list. When doing this I power down, remove the card, save to the card on the PC, insert the card back into the phone and then power back up.

At any rate, I cannot get the Menu option of "Apply as Ringtone" when I click on any of the tones that I uploaded and saved on the p...
