That review was ridiculous though... they cited a number of things that were completely inaccurate about theh phone:

🙄 "Creative types will welcome the embedded MotoMixer application to mix their own ring tone melodies." WRONG.

🙄 They said the phone had changeable faceplates. WRONG.

🙄 They said you could not change the Blue and White external display colors: WRONG.

🙄 "Also, you can't use MP3s as ring tones unless you download them from Get It Now to the handset. " WRONG.

🙄 They said the phone had changeable faceplates. WRONG. don't they now have clip on faceplates?

🙄 They said you could not change the Blue and White external display colors: WRONG. How do you change this?

🙄 "Also, you can't use MP3s as ring tones unless you download them from Get It Now to the handset. " WRONG. Could this be what the update will do for us?

Just questions... Not sayig yuor wron gor anything. Not trying to start stuff.. 🙂

🙄 They said you could not change the Blue and White external display colors: WRONG. How do you change this? Limited but through color schemes

🙄 "Also, you can't use MP3s as ring tones unless you download them from Get It Now to the handset. " WRONG. Could this be what the update will do for us? use NOW. Get a TF card and make your own fro free. Search - many many posts on how to do this

😳 The clip-ons are really COVERS or CASES ... not a changeable faceplate like many of the other moto phones have ... like the V600 (the cousin to the V710)

😳 If you change the Color Style (Menu, 7, 2) on the phone the external display changes with it. You get a choice of 6 colors: Moto (blue), Silver, Midnight (purple), Jade, Tangy (reddish) and Solar (yellow).

😳 You can use an MP3 as a ringtone right now ... there is no update to wait for. Either move the MP3 to the phone with a TransFlash card, or just change the file extension from MP3 to MID and mail it to your...

Proto has a good point. Without going back through it, I think there may be one or two more.

I'm a bit disappointed in CNET for this one. I had come to rely on their product reviews but this review will push me to look elsewhere to confirm or refute their reviews from now on.

My last phone was the Samsung a310. Cnet gave that phone a 7.3 and I thought it was about right. Good (not great) RF and reliable basic features. The v710 puts the a310 in the stone-age and Cnet gives it a 6.7??? Granted, the phone is not perfect and VZW has gone too far in binding some of the features but it does have awesome RF and more features than just about anything out there.

I would think it earns at least a 7.5 in todays market with some sort of...

Yeah I wasn't really questioning the rating ... but rather the completely bogus info they had in the review.

Anyone who has handled the phone for 2 minutes can see the faceplate does NOT come off the phone. And where were they looking that they found MotoMixer??? Were they even looking at a V710?

And they are supposed to be professional cell phone reviewers?

sounds like they reviewed the phone by reading stuff(some wrong)rather than actually using the phone. 😳
