Voice Activated Dialing

Okay, I followed the directions on how to get the voice dial to work, but the final option of "voice dial" doesn't show up! I have service dial and something else, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it to listen to my commands! This is the AT&T version. Any suggestions?

Not sure what directions you followed but voice dial is not available for numbers stored on the SIM card. To use voice activated dialing you need to store the number (only the ones you want to use vad for) on the phone not SIM card. Hope this helps...

Unfortunately. I tried doing it and I made some new entries in the phone itself. Sure, I still have some on the sim, but the VAD entry and info is in the phone and I still can't get it to work.

I'm having the same problem on an AT&T version as well. I go to office tools, dialing services, and my only option there is fixed dial. Is voice dialing not offered on the AT&T versions? I hope not cause I find this function really useful.

I am also having the same problem-
Motorola claims that there is a bug in
the phones design and do not have voice activated dialing. This is very upsetting considering the ONLY reason why I got this phone is for voice activated dialing...
Does anyone out there have under "Dialing Services" (in office tools) have "Voice Dial"? I'm really disgusted that the company has falsely advertised this feature & then failed to fix this "bug"....

Hi - I'm new to getting a cell phone. My family is shocked I've moved into the 21st century. 🙂

But I have the VOICE DIALING under the DIALING SERVICES and works. I just got my phone 2 days ago.

But could someone help me understand something? yes, the manual is AWEFUL! But here's my question - should I be able to use the VAD from the main menu?

I would think that I should be able to open my phone and speak the name I've recorded and it simply dial. But seems like ya have to drill down to the DIALING SERVICES just to use it.

That seems like a waste of time. It's faster/safter while driving to go to the address book and hit the CALL button on the name.

Am I simply not understand how the VAD should work?

Thanks...

I too question how voice dialing is used. It says to assign a number to voice dial and hit that number and say the name within 2 seconds. It does not work!!!! I go back to the menu, go thru all the steps...find the number is different. It does work when you are in that mode....just like you said. It is much too much work to get to that point. I guess the next step is to call Motorola.

Voice dialing on the Motorola V180 is much more complicated than my old Nokia phone but I finally figured it out.

1. Find Dialing Services (Settings -- Tools -- Dialing Services)

2. Highlight Voice Dial (using the 5-way navigation key) and press and hold the Menu Key to create a shortcut.

3. The screen will ask you to associate a number key with the shortcut and will already have one suggested (probably 2). If the suggested number key is OK with you, select done.

4. To voice dial, tap the Menu key + 2 (or whatever number key you assigned) and speak the voice tag for the number you want to dial. You do not have to push the keys simultaneously -- sequentially works fine 😎

Good Luck!

OK, I followed the steps that Barnaclebill had put up and mine still does not work, my question is do I need to change something in the where you enter their names like in the address book, where it says Name, Category, No, Type, Store TO, Voice Name and Speed No, do I need to put certain things in there so that it will work, this is really making me mad. LOL!!

Dear Group,

The voice dial is working in my motorola V180 phone.
I am also able to see voice dial in the dialing services menu.
I have purchased this phone from ebay.com (Unlocked).
But i have a problem. The VAD only stores for 5 to 6 nos. When i try to store more VAD nos, the phone says "Voice Dial Memory Is Full".Does anyone have an answer for this?

Regards,

vinod
