Phone Locked to ATT SIM Cards

Mujin

So I'm in Taipei. I put in a local SIM card and get this freakin invalid SIM card message and the phone won't boot.

ATT is working on me returning this phone and possibly cancelling my account before the 30 day period. Locking equipment people pay for and not disclosing it up front is pretty slimey. I guess they wanted me to find out after I used the phone here so they could charge me the outrageous per minte cost.

Anyone know how to remove this underhanded annoyance?

Also, the outrageous price on AT&T Wirelss (1.29/min) is better than Cingular (1.99/min) and T-Mobile (1.49/min.) Also, keep in mind, this is the USA, we offer cheaper phones, so we lock them.

Mujin, post your IMEI here (press *#06# on your phone to display it), we will see what we can do... I assume you bought your 6620 in the US, right?
