6620 vs 6230

I've been waiting for the 6620, but most of the features I wanted are also on the 6230. Is there any reason I should or shouldn't get the 6230? Should I keep waiting for the 6620?

We are in the same boat. I plan to wait until I can see them side by side before deciding.

If you are a macintosh user like I than the 6620 should sync immediately with iSync. You'll have to wait for the next upgrade of iSync for the 6230. Also the 6620 has a larger display.

Differences with phones:

6620:
Larger Screen
Symbian 6.0 OS
Bigger size and weight
1 day shorter standby time
No radio
No side keys

6230:
Smaller screen
Series 40 OS, no Symbian
Smaller size and weight
Extra 25 hour standby time
Radio (only works with headphone attachement)
Side keys

These are the major differences between these phones, besides these differences.. they are EXACTALLY the same... I am also deciding which of these phones to choose... right now i am thinking of going with the 6620 because of the Symbian OS, its kinda like windows for your phone, but it all depends on when these phones come out and how expensive they are when i renew my plan, but they are both excellent phones

The 6230 has faster edge capabilities than the 6620. I like the symbian operating system, but it's not absolutely better than the series 40 system in the 6230. i will probably buy both. If you are waiting for a phone because you want a great camera phone and dont really care about edge, wait for the 7610. AWESOME phone.

I have played with both of these and like the 6620 better. The slight increase in EDGE speeds is meaningless if you're not tethering, and the huge screen on the 6620, multitasking capabilities, etc., make that my choice. This phone is being released Friday! AWS isn't bringing the 6230 on, unfortunately..... Would have liked to have the option of both!

Where did you find out that this phone was going to be released on Friday? I've been waiting for it for a long time! And when it is released on Friday, do you know if that means all AWS stores will have it?

I have been waiting for it for awhile, too! AWS stores will probably get it next week. (It's rare that they have a new model on its release day - go figure.)
AWS dealers will be able to place orders for this device on Friday, so if they wanted to, they could have them overnighted and in stores on Saturday.....
I'm getting one this week and will let you know what I think after a few days!

Ok sounds good! Yeah i want to get one as soon as they come out, I need a new phone and this is the one I've been waiting for. I hope that the dealer that I am going to get it from will have them by saturday because I am going out of town for a few days and it would be nice to have it by then to play around with! We'll just have to see though, maybe i'll call teh dealer and ask when they should be getting them, they should know right?

They should know that it is launching on Friday. Ask your dealer if/when they plan on ordering some.
This is an expensive enough phone that some dealers may choose not to carry it, since most volume is sold on cheap (ie, FREE) phones, and some dealers are hesitant to purchase the more expensive models.....

It will be released nationally. The 6620 is substantially better than the 6600 and will be worth your wait.
I had a 3650 (loved it, but thought it was pretty ugly), went to a 6820 (I agree with you on the poor camera and screen resolution!), and now have a V600, which is not that great a phone. The 6620 has everything I want in a phone, other than a megapixel camera. Streaming video via EDGE, Bluetooth, 850 GSM, video, Symbian, memory cards for expandable memory, and if it works half as well as the 3650, class-leading RF performance. I'll let you know what I think tomorrow!

I am assuming you would take this over 6230? That is if att was offering it.

Without any hesitation. I've used both within the last 2 weeks, and as far as I'm concerned, there's no comparison. The 6230 is impressive, but the smaller screen really limits its appeal for me. Also, after using the 3650 for a long time, I really came to like the Symbian OS, especially its capabilities for multitasking. Looking forward to seeing the video streaming, too!

Thanks gtownjimbo and jjesko. I'm a mac user too, so maybe I might wait for the next upgrade of iSync, but knowing apple, an upgrade of iSync is probably out really soon.

My plan with AT&T is just about up, so depending on who gets the phones first, and has a better plan, I might go over to Cingular or stick with AT&T (which will become Cingular anyway). I'll probably stop by Cingular one night this week to check out the 6230 and see if they have info about the release date for the 6620, at which point I'll do my side by side comparison.

Well cingular is going to have the 6230 first... that is almost a for sure thing. Well, on the other hand ATTWS is supposed have the 6620 in the very begining of Aug. This is around the time that Cingular should have the 6230 out. Then Cingular should have the 6620 out by the end of Aug.

All this being true it is really a toss up. I want a 6620 really bad, but I have a contract through cingular, which is no where near being over. I am still eligible for rebates tho, and so I am just going to wait for the 6620 to be realesed by cingular.

Now I thought about getting the 6230, but all that it really has over the 6620 is Class 10 EDGE. Which, in my case I feel that i can deal w/.
