Please explain what is flexing and why would a phone need flexing? Would flexing void the warranty?

Flexing your phone is basically overwriting the software portion with new software. it clears out all data not stored on the SIM card. Generally, the only time you would flex your phone is if you were wanting to get extra software not available in the original flex. For instance, If you update the flexware on your V400 with V600 flexware you gain AIM, IM, MP4 and 3GP video playback capabilities, Mobile QQ, and a few other things. Oh, and some decent Motorola ringtones a lot better than, say, the crappy original Cingular ringtones. Oh, and about a meg of extra space Cingular's crap is taking up which can't otherwise be reclaimed.
But, it is a bit of trouble flexing it. And yes, it would void your warranty if they realized you'd done it.

Thanks for the full explanation brettflan. I'm at work and completely swamped with stuff to do, so I just wanted to at least get the person started with something to look at.
