Deleting Ring Tones

Hello

I just made some cool mp3 ring tones for my Motorola V400. How do I delete some of the standard ring tones that came with the phone. I tagged the ones I wanted to delete, and hit delete, but they would not actually delete.

Thanks
Eric

Most of the standard ones are protected. Cingular (or whoever you got the phone from) don't want you to delete their stuff.
You can delete those ringtones using a few available programs, such as P2KMan. But you would need to know which files are the ones you want to be deleted, since all the programs which can do so will list every file on your phone including plenty which shouldn't be messed with. For that matter, deleting some of the protected ringtones and wallpapers can sometimes cause problems.

So, unless you want to take a chance and put a fair amount of work into it sa well, I'd recommend just leaving them as they are.

Sorry guys, but I've been on vacation for the past couple weeks (went to Vegas) and haven't checked the board at all. Anyway, I agree with Brettflan here... Unless you know what you're doing, or you're techy, I wouldn't recommend deleting the locked files. This can cause problems with other things you may not realize.
