I cannot seem to locate the : "mute" function on my phone.
Can someone lead me in the right direction ?

What exactly are you looking for? Do you want to mute the ringer when somebody calls, mute the mic so the other party can't hear you, change the ringer to OFF, etc... Can you give more details???

I am looking to "mute" the microphone, while I am speaking to another party (in the same room).
Also, do you know is there a function to locate names in the, "phone book", without having to scroll through the entire phone book ?

Unfortunately, I am not aware of a way to to "mute" the microphone like you're looking for. I did a quick search of the online manual for the v400 and it didn't list anything either...sorry!
As for locating a name in the phone book, the best thing I can offer you is to press the number key (associated with the 1st letter of the name you're looking for) to jump to that section. For example, press the 6 and you will jump to the first name that starts with "M" if you press it again, you will jump to the first name that starts with "N" etc...
