First off, as far as I know, you have to have both a JAR and a JAD file. The JAD file can be edited in notepad (if you know what you're doing) and gives basic info about the JAR file, which actually contains the main data.

There may well be a simpler way of loading Java games and apps to your phone than by a WAP website, but if so I haven't found it. Haven't looked all that hard though. MPT doesn't support it.

For a WAP site, you just need the java game's files in the same directory and have an HTML link to the JAD file. Your phone will install the game using the JAD file.

There are a few WAP sites around which have downloadable java games using that method. Here's a couple of them, which you'll need to register at first to gain acc...

I'm assuming you don't mind the pictures taking up a bit more memory on your phone?

Make sure you don't use much in the way of compression when saving the pictures in preparation for copying to the phone. A lot of image programs default to 60% quality (compression level) or the like. This makes the image look a bit fuzzy on your computer but really makes it look bad on the phone. Most of the wallpapers available for download from different sites are compressed way too much. I had the same problem at first using photoshop. I personally use 90-95% quality to have it look nearly perfect while still shrinking the file size a fair bit from 100% quality (which would be completely uncompressed).

As for the java games, it's easy enough to down...

I bought a USB to Moto cable here. http://store.yahoo.com/cellphoneshop/index.ht ml

Then went to that motclub site and downloaded MPT (good for address book and MP3 and pic uploading) and Midway (Jave app loader to phone).

To load java you have to open your java properties and enable Java App Loader.

If you need anymore help let me know.

Midway eh? Musta missed that one on the Motclub site. Cool, thanks for the info! I'll have to try that out.

That'll be a hell of a lot easier than setting up my java games on a personal WAP site and browsing there on my phone.

Again, thanks!

OK. I have Win 2000. I go to Control Panel, and Modem. Click on properties on the Motorola phone and check what port its using. With USB its either COM 5 or COM6.

When you're in Midway and it asks if you want to change settings, just change the COM port to whatever your phone is set to.

Java settings change in on the phone. Go to your phone settings, should be bottom right icon. Last option is JAVA settings, then the first option there for I think Enable Java something. Click that, then plug in the USB cable. Now Midway should work.

I don't see the Enable Java setting in my V400 Java Settings menu. When I go to the Java Settings menu all I have are the following options:

Java System
Delete All Apps
App Vibration: ON
App Volume: 6
App Backlight: ON

If I select Java System it just gives me info on the version and data space available.

Will I still be able to upload Java apps from my pc without this option on my phone?

Thanks!
