Ive worked for Verizon Wireless for a few years now and I find it so funny how people post release dates on all these different phones when they really havent a clue. Truth is, anyone working out of a retail store has no idea when a new phone is coming out. About a few weeks before a release date, we usually get in a "dummy" phone with info. about what the phone can do along with a CD-ROM. I can personally tell you, that as of today, 4/13/2004, Ive heard no release dates of neither the Audiovox 9900, LG VX 4600, LG VX 7000, LG VX 8000, or the Motorola V710. We havent even been briefed on the video clip features either. Generally when something new comes out such as (Pix Messaging, Push to talk, etc.) we are required to take some trainin...

What jbgoff said is true. I know someone at a Verizon-Wireless store, and as I mentioned on another thread, they reps really have no knowledge of what phone model is due to debut next. What he said is they "do know" when there will be a new phone out next (No Model Info). The rep I know attends a Train-the trainer session weeks in advance from a new model release. The session explains the phones features and any other new technology that might apply to the model. He then trains the rest of the staff at the store on the model and feature codes to add to an acct e.g. Pix MSG, Web ext. His next training is in late May. So that means that there will be a new phone out probably in June. That is when Verizon will have their End of School and summe...

JB's right, the manufacturer will tell us the "approx" release dates, and when they "hope" to have it released by. Even on the other side of the US from JB it's the same thing, they get the dummys, and sometimes they aren't even told till they actually have the phone inside the store.

So I was getting really excited about this phone being release this week. Now its May, fine. The one thing I started looking at was wether I even care to wait any more for it so I started looking at other phones. Somebody tell me why this phone is so great. Other than the nicer screen and its ability to take videos what really is the difference between the 9900 and 8900? Is this phone really going to be that great, especially if they put a $300+ price tag on it?
