Audiovox CDM-9900
v710 vs 9900
I realize I'm posting this in an extremely partial forum, but so be it. I own the v710 and in the middle of my trial period. Overall I like it, but I'd still like to know how it compares to the 9900. When looking at specs, the v710 is far superior b/c of its bluetooth capabilities. However, when one gets down to the good stuff, I wonder really which is on top. By good stuff I mean reception, call quality, battery life, screen quality, resolution, UI, etc.

The 9900 is a whole lot better. Although the camera on the V710 is a megapixel, the pics dont look like it, they suck. Although the camera on the 9900 is 300k pixel, it looks a whole lot better. Try it out and see for yourself. Battery life on the v710 does not compare to the 9900. The 9900 battery lasts a whole lot longer. The V710 battery is very short just like all the other phones Motorola builds. Also, the screen on the V710 is low resolution and looks bad compared to the high resolution 9900. I have owned a lot of Verizon phones in the past 3 years(around 7) and I can tell you the 9900 is a better choice. Asa far as the bluetooth, the V710 bluetooth is crippled and near useless. Its the truth. I am not an Audiovox fan or anything. I have owned all kinds of different brands(mostly expensive phones) and I am telling you the 9900 beats the V710 by far. Trust me on this one or go and check it yourself and if I'm wrong, I'll give you whatever you want. Thats how sure I am of what I am telling you. I have owned the T720, T730, VX4400, VX4500, VX6000, VX7000, A670, A530, V710 and now the 9900. If I was to be stuck on an island, the 9900 is what I will pick because it performs very well. Although, Verizon stopped selling this phone due to the fact that it was sold out in a short period, I know you can find them on Ebay. I bought mine there for $245 Brand New.

Sending back my v710 tomorrow - receiving 9900 tomorrow. Done deal. Now I just hope you guys are on the mark. I've never been a fan of Audiovox products (found them cheap), but hopefully this will change my opinion for the better.

I find them cheap too. As a a matter of fact, I never liked Audiovox for that reason too. The reason this specific phone is so good is that it was made by Toshiba for Audiovox just like the Audiovox 9500. Toshiba is known for high quality products. If the 9900 was built by Audiovox, I am sure it won't be worth a dime. Both the CDM8600 AND CDM8900 are built by Audiovox and are cheap quality. You can go to Ebay and type in Toshiba VM4050 and see what comes up and you will see its a Toshiba in an audiovox shirt. You won't be dissapointed.

Hard to tell who is private-labeling who. Toshiba's phones look like Audi and Audi looks like Toshiba. But I hear what you are saying. My mind is rested now that I know it's manf by Toshiba. Big mistake not to brand this a Toshiba phone - as Audiovox clearly has the "cheap" label.

I agree with you, it should definately be branded Toshiba. Trust me, Toshiba makes them for Audiovox and not the other way around because I am sure Toshiba won't risk their reputation and quality by allowing Audiovox to make their phones. You will be happy with your Toshiba 9900 phone. Please let me know when you get it. You made the right choice.

Hey cyberian, please report back your thoughts. I'm just curious, cause I bought both phones for my daughters. They both love their phones. The one that got the V710 had a lot more requirements (she had a phone with a flash card before). But I love the screen on the 9900. It's so big and bright! And I was able to create and install an mp3 ringtone on it; so neat! I'm stuck with my Samsung A650 with only polyphonic ringtones...
