Hey, opened up one of the nokias' when we got them in last week here at the store and i noticed something odd about it. A Sim card slot? Why? Can anyone explain the purpose for this? The phone isn't quad band or anything, its not able to work with cdma and gsm frequencies. Was nokia just too lazy to take this slot out of a cdma version of one of their phones or whats the deal people?

there is a standard for SIM card slots in CDMA phones, it is called RUIM. The slot in the 3589i is a RUIM slot, but according to the manual it doesn't do anything.

The only CDMA phones I know of that actually have working RUIM slots are sold in Asia.
