I have noticed the same omission. Do speaker phones typically drain the battery more to amplify the volume?

I currently have a Motorola 270c with speakerphone and I have noticed that when I use it, it tends to drain the battery faster than usual. I guess this is to be expected since the audio signal must go through an additional amplifier. Audiovox's 8600 speakerphone is rather poor (on both ends), so I am waiting for the 4500 to come out...
