Battery life...responses appreciated!

I have had my X since the 19th. I used to have the Storm. That being said, it seems to me my battery is dying quickly. I use it quite a bit...viewing different websites, facebook, twitter, decent amount of texts, and emails,as well as messing around with the set up...i do have some widgets downloaded, however also use the app task killer. I unplugged it from the charger @ 8am today. As of 1pm im already down to 40% left. Is this typical? Are there ne tricks or tips if this is typical r could there be something possibly wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated...other than the battery life the device has been great!

Thx.

I'm probably not the best person to reply, because the phone I had prior to the X would easily go 3-4 days between charges. To me the X seems like a total battery hog! I hear it's way better than the HTC Incredible, so whatever that's worth. If I charge the X overnight to 100% to start out in the morning (around 6:00 AM), I'll usually have about 20% left by 9:00 PM. That's messing with it and using it quite a lot throughout the day. If I get too carried away, I might need to give it a little booster charge when I first get home in the evening to make it all the way to bedtime. Considering the massive screen and the 1GHZ processor, I guess it does pretty well.

I could probably have mine that low already too if I played with it enough. I guess it all depends on how you use it.

It isn't that unusual for an Android device.

I used to have a Dare, and it would go 3-4 days between charges, but when I got my Droid, that went away.

that said, there are a few things you can do. One of them is search the forum to make sure your question hasn't been asked and answered before...

set your screen to auto brightness. Oddly, this seems to work better than setting it to low brightness.

Turn off GPS, if you aren't using it. If you do use it, turn it on and off as needed. the power control widget is convenient for this.

Turn off wifi, if you aren't using it; however, if you CAN use it (through work or whatever) then turn it on, because the WiFi radio uses less energy than the 3G radio; however, if the wifi radi...

I did notice something a little weird with my X. If I charge it overnight to 100%, as soon as I use it for anything in the morning it goes to 90% almost immediately. There is no way I'm using 10% of the battery charge in the first 5 minutes. Oh well...it still lasts all day so I'm happy.

My incredible reacts the same way. I'll charge it to "100%" but then it quickly drops to 90% within the first 5 minutes. What i have started doing is to charge it to green then unplug it and charge again to green(100%). That seems to be really working for me. it seems to be falsly charging to full the first time. I dont know how the X will react to this but its worth a try.

It's a very popular way of charging taken from the android forums and many people are having success with it.

I'm gonna try it. Just to clarify, when you say, "charge it to the green and unplug it" do you mean anywhere over 30%, unplug it for a while, plug it back in and go all the way to 100%?

Charge to full then unplug and charge again to full. With the Incredible,it's really the only way to obtain a true full charge.
