Comments on either the T610 or the T616 are highly needed (BOTH THE GOOD AS WELL AS THE BAD), even if you do not know the answers to the following 3 questions......

--------------------------------------------- --

I have been doing research on both the T610 and T616. Thus far the ONLY differences I can see is that the T610 operates using GSM 900 vrs the T616's GSM is operating at 850.

1) Can someone tell me if one is "better" than the other?

The weird thing is that the T610's GSM is 900 (you would naturally think that a higher number is better). If 900 is better, then why is the T616 (a suspose upgrade to the T610) using only 850???????

2) When trying to find who I should purc...

This weekend I ended up purchasing the T616. Although I really havent had the time and have not been in the different areas to give it a complete review, I absolutely love the phone thus far. I will continue to post threads on here as I find out the "Pros and Cons" of this phone.

The only major con I have thus far is:

1) The option to be able to turn "off" the "Increasing Ring" volume DOES NOT WORK.

If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know......

Thank You,
Ron

Sony Ericsson made the phone with the increasing ring built-in, you can't turn it off. As for the message alerts, you are limited to the one that Sony provides for you. Your 900 and 850 difference is just the American 850Mhz band and the 900Mhz European band.

So, the T616 will NOT work in Europe? ☹️

Is there a way to change the crystal and convert it to a T610 during a trip to Europe?

You can have it flashed, it is risky and you may need to find someone with the right cables and expertise. It would be better if you buy another phone (may it be a cheaper one) if traveling a lot to europe.

The only way to get it fixed and to also get a faster menu is to flash it with the latest firmware, my friend did that with his T616 and no works great.

Delta,

Good news man, I was able to correct the "increasing ring volume", and also "Yes" you can customize your message alerts. The bad news is that by reading your reply I highly doubt that you have read your manual from cover to cover because the customization of message alerts are easily found and until now I have never heard of anyone having problems with this. To fix the increasing ring problem, I suggest going to the Sony Ericsson website and downloading their owner's manual on this phone (the one that came with your phone is totally different than the one on their website, not to mention that the one on the website is much more "user friendly"). I am having an absolute blast with this phone and it is by far everything I ever wa...
