about this cingular recall...

I'll start this off letting all know that I am a cingular customer. That being said, we are all aware there is a recall going on here. Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has any idea if we'll be getting v620's when it's all said and done, or are we just getting a fixed v600. I'm afraid that I already know the answer to this but maybe someone out there can tell me something good (with some validity involved). After all, isn't the v620 just an updated v600 and isn't that something Motorola should (but probably won't) do to show some gratification to their customers?

This has been discussed at length on Howard Forums by people participating in the exchange.

Basically, you will get a new V600 that is updated in firmware to meet Cingular's 850 MHz system requirements and a few other enhancements. It is not a V620 and it is not a V551. It's still a V600.

These new handsets are supposed to be available in September and you can wait until then to get your's exchanged if you have the dropped call problem. If you switch now, you get a factory-second V400 to use until they ship the new V600 out.
