Bluetooth Problem with ATT V600

I just got my new V600 from ATT. The phone is great, but I've been having problems getting Bluetooth connections to work. I'm starting to think that there is a problem with the Bluetooth on my phone.

If I search for BT devices with my phone, I don't see any, even though both my computer and my PDA are BT'd.

I can find the phone with my computer and PDA, but can't seem to connect. I also tried using Mobile Phone Tools. Even thought the phone is in "discoverable" mode, Mobile Phone Tools can not find it. BT is on and in discoverable mode. I have no problem connecting the computer and PDA, so the BT on both of those devices is working fine.

Any ideas? Am I being stupid?

thanks

I had similar problems also. Your PC and phone must be paired BEFORE launching mobile phonetools.

Don't kill me for asking this, but, are you putting the phone in discoverable mode before searching for devices on your PC? It should at least see the phone. Then you can pair them with identical PINs. Once they are paired, fire up phonetools.

When I go to connect to my v600 through bluetooth in Mobile Phone Tools, I get a message saying "Comm Port Installation Failed". Does anyone know why this is happening?

I have tried pairing to the phone, but get 4 choices for services. They are:

Dial-up networking gateway
OBEX file Transfer
OBEX Object Push
Voice Gateway

Which one is the appropriate one to pair with before trying to use Mobile Phone Tools?

I rebooted the phone and can now pair with the file transfer service. I can now see the phone when I use Mobile Phone Tools, but when I try to connect to it I get a message saying "Comm Port Installation Failed". This is after entering and having the PIN code accepted. Any ideas?

thanks

Not sure if you find out how to pair up your v600 with your PDA/PC yet. I am running into similiar problems and needing help. Tried 2 methods and didn't seem to work.

I just my v600 2 days ago and trying to pair up with my PDA (iPQA Bluetooth enabled).

Method 1:

From the v600, I select "settings/connection/Bluetooth Link/Handsfree"

then, it asked if I wan to temporarily power on Bluetooth. I picked "Yes". [Look for device] for about 15 seconds, no device found. Even my iPQA is turned on with Bluetooth enabled with 3 inches away from the phone.

Method 2:

From v600, settings/connection/bluetooth link/setup/find me

"Discoverable in 60 seconds"

From IPQA, Bluetooth Manager/Search, it found the Motorola Phone. The ...

I have the same problem. I can pair my v600 up with my thinkpad t41p, and have the dialup network service enabled. But Mobile Phone Tools just simply will not find the phone over bluetooth. Hopefully someone has an answer.

Thanks,
Robert

I had the same problem. Try rebooting your phone and computer, or taking the blue tooth adapter out and moveing it around. That worked for me.

Thanks. By rebooting the phone, I assume you mean powering off and on, right? I've tried that as well as rebooting the computer. I have built in bluetooth on my Thinkpad, so I can't giggle it. I can connect to my laptop with it as a dial-up interface, it's just that when I bring up mobile phone tools, it just sits there with "initializing" and never connects.

Thanks for your reply,
Robert

Okay, I got it figured out. MPT is working for me now. Here's what I did:

First I paired the phone with the computer using the Bluetooth setup wizard. It created 4 options, 1 of which was dial up networking.

Then I started MPT, but canceled instead of having it search for a bluetooth connection.

Then go to setup, general setup and click on the "communication" tab. Click "change modem" and set it up for V600 bluetooth.

Now it works.

You may have to first connect to the dial-up connection through the bluetooth setup wizard, but I'm not sure if this is really necessary. Don't actually have it dial anything though.

Good luck

worked a treat!, Oddly though, whilst going through the settings in MPT, I found one which stated 'always use this profile' so I selected that, now when I launch MPT it obviously doesn't prompt for a profile to use, but neither does it ask how I wish to connect, ie USB Infra red blue-tooth etc, it just goes straight in with BT!! 😁
