OK. This probably isn't coming out anytime soon and I'm with AT&T, also (was holding out for this phone specifically, but ready to move my number to GREENER PASTURES like T-Mobile, etc.). 👿

First: Have any of the more authoritative voices like hot_md_guy and not the bogus rumor/hype schmucks heard any info to make it worth waiting even another week for this phone, 'cause you/I can now get the SE Z600 unlocked/unbranded for LESS than this one woulda been with all the same bells and whistles (minus the video, clunky antenna, situational lights and firmware bugs). I spoke with two AT&T CSRs today and they BOTH told me that the only info they have now when they do a search in their terminals for v600 is "by the end of 2004"!

I've personally hear a lot of good things about the z600. It's the phone I was originally waiting for. I heard about the v600 but I for one will not wait months for a phone or reward ATT or Motorola at this point. I am waiting for either the SE T630 or Z600 to be offered by T-Mobile. I'm interested in knowing what prices you've seen for the Z600.

A friend has the Nokia 3650 (bluetooth, camera and video) but it is a bit clunky. They have been quite a few phones announced recently that fit what your looking for. All of which I found out here but "announced" means little to me anymore. When was the V600 announced again? Why is everyone still waiting for it?

I had a Nokia 3650 and then I bought a SE Z600 off ebay. This is what I can tell you.

The Nokia 3650 was by far the best phone I have ever had. Awesome reception, great menu's, very useful features (alarm with snooze feature, great calendar, bluetooth, etc). However it was just too big. I wanted to get the v600 but I got tired of waiting and got the z600 unlocked on ebay. I sold the 3650 on ebay for $160 which is pretty nice since I got it for free 😎

The Z600 is also a very good phone. The only problem with it is that it sometimes has bad rececption. However it seems to have improved lately. There is no antenna which is nice and it has bluethooth which is very handy. I downloaded my address book into the Z600 in about 30 seconds. It...

thanks. that really helps.

as far as the reception goes, who's your carrier? Because the one thing I heard about the Z600 was how great the reception was for the internal antenna.

anyway, thanks again.

Do not get the unlocked Z699 if you plan to use AT&T. It doesn't work on GSM 850 and AT&T is moving there now. In fact, they are replacing for free phones they sold, like the T68i with new phones tyhat work on 850. GSM 850 is simply GSM technology operating in the Cellular (800 MHz / 850 MHz) frequency band. Both the technology and frequency band have been around for a long time, but only in 2002 were they combined.

In the U.S. prior to 2002, GSM technology only operated in the PCS (1900 MHz) frequency band.

GSM 850 addresses the needs of carriers with Cellular licenses switching from other technologies to GSM.

Before the existence of GSM 850, the Cellular band was commonly referred to as the "800 MHz" band. "850 MHz" implies a dif...

Yeah. the more I read/hear about the Z600, the more I like it. You can get the Z600 unlocked AND unbranded fully functional for just under $300 now if you really search. AT&T will be charging $299 with a 2 year contract/renewal for the V600 (if/when).
Either way, for what you get the Z600 seems like a better deal (and more solid). I don't know if I need Quicktime on my phone and situational lights THAT badly.

Anyway. Anyone who works for ATT heard anymore dates?

Well there is very little mention of it as a comparable phone to V600 (unless I'm mistaken) but the Sharp GX-30 seems to me as a worthy competitor to the V600 (quad-band, 262K, 1MP camera, Bluetooth, ext memory). It aint as flashy as V600 but then again who has seen a V600 yet.
Also Sharp is planning on releasing the GX-30 sometime in March in UK on Vodafone. As usual we here will be the last to get it.
