Alright guys, we're about one week away from the launch date (Feb 2) I've played with a V400 and I know that it has similar software for the most part. According to the Cingular rep I talked to, while the phone does indeed have MP3 ringtones, they are limited. Obviously the V600 does not have a MMC or any expansion card and the data cable is not included. (although attainable)

The limitations as explained to me, were that MP3 ringtones could only be 64 k bts as far as compression quality, and there asides from the % MB memory there was a limitation as far as memory for MP3s.

So here's the challenge. What is the easiest way to get MP3 ringtones on our phone, for free? Of course I have little doubt service providers will have premium c...

How about trying to upload via bluetooth... that should be fairly simple and save you any extra costs.

Hey MD guy

So far bluetooth seems to be the easiest way to get images and mp3's onto and out of the phone. A USB bluetooth dongle can be had for $30-ish I think? When the phone links up with a computer, 4 bluetooth interfaces should pop up... Here's a link.

You should be able to just copy mp3's and images into and out of the 'OBEX file transfer' folder. You can also upload Java games using the 'OBEX Object Push' I think.

It's gonna have to be either the bluetooth, USB + Motorola Phone Tools software, or downloading from the internet. I plan on going with bluetooth just cause it's pretty easy once set up... And you can also use the V600 as a wireless internet/voic...

You sure do love howard forums. I appreciate the advice, but the point is to NOT spend money. Any other alternatives?

So, let me get this straight - you want to spend $200+ to get the phone but you won't cough up the money to get a Bluetooth dongle that will do many other things for you? Stop being a cheap bastard already and get a dongle.

The easiest way to download mp3 ringtones for teh v600 is at this website.... www.mototon.co.uk as of right now the site is down for some updating but you are still able to get into the forums there.

The next question would be for free??

If you want to save money you are allowed one download a week for free...

If you want to pay about $3.00 you get unlimited downloading for a month. Price go up for longer times of periods. It is well worth it and works for me.

The problem is the site is not always working but most of the time it is....Hope this helps!
