My wife and I both got the Eris, the salesman set up a bogus Gmail address on my wife's phone. I have since created a new account , how do I remove the current Gmail account the phone is synchronized to and add the new account I created? Thanks

Try googling it or try phandroid.com (a pretty decent site for android questions). I set up a new gmail account BEFORE I got the phone, and honestly, it has been no problem. I don't use it very much but it was nice to get the contacts and everything on the phone immediately.

Settings > Applications > Manage Applications...

Then, do the following...

Google Apps > Clear Data

Gmail > Clear Data

Gmail Storage > Clear Data

Only the Google Apps portion is really required to force the phone to ask for your username and password again, but the other two should probably be cleared, as well, since they store information related to the account that you were initially signed in as.

This worked great, I was able to delete the account the phone was setup with and switch it to a new one. Problem is all the contacts on the phone are linked to the old email address, any idea how to keep my contacts and switch the email address ? Thanks

I suppose that you could just try doing it without clearing the last two items. Otherwise, I'd recommend signing into your Gmail account on your computer and exporting your contacts, then signing into the other account and importing them.
