Was wondering as ive ordered the phone(has not arrived yet) but heres a few questions the last one im assuming is a no but i'll ask anyway.

-Since im not on the 29.99 Mobile Web/Email package if i send out an AIM/Windows left message to another person does that count as a standard text message or is it covered in the package?

-Can i send ringtones to the phone and save it in the ringtone section of the device?

-I was told by another friend on the Sprint carrier(HTC Hero) that he was able to run emulators/roms on his phone does verizon allow any customizables like this with this phone?(lol i know right).

Thanks for reading and hopefully some answers.

Depends on the app you are using, if the app says it uses SMS it is using text. Most IM apps should be using your internet connection though, not using SMS.

It has nothing to do with VZW, is there an app that does it? This is a google phone being made by motor...

I would disagree with your second point, Verizon restricts some apps from running on lots of phones. All Nokia phones should be able to run the PC suite for syncing contacts and calendar to your PC but VZW doesn't allow it, just one really annoying example. Until recently they also restricted Google maps from running on smart phones.

This is a google experience device. meaning verizon is not restricting any apps.

As for nokia phones, nokia phones for verizon are made by PCD, and run verizon's OS, they are not "nokia devices"

Nokia/LG/Samsung/whatever phones (not running smartphone OS) use a Verizon operating system. So a nokia Twist has more in common with the EnV3 when it comes to programming than it does with a Nokia found on a GSM carrier.

Verizon isn't restricting access to apps and whatnot, but they seem to be charging you extra form them compared to other Android carriers. Extra and caps on Data and whatnot.

They are charging the same for android data as they charge for blackberry or winmo.

Sprint and Tmobile have different pricing.

Verizon's plans are more expensive (and their coverage more extensive) for most of their devices across the board.

The cap on data is when you tether the device. they have wording about reserving the right to cap data on the handset to stop people from using something like tetherberry and using their phone's data plan for their computer.

If you read their service agreement fine print, they also state it is prohibited to stream, upload, or download music, videos and games as part as the data plan. That means technically your agreeing not to use Pandora or games that play online and Youtube.. and other programs similar to this.

They will not shut off your plan for pandora, trust me. It's actually an app verizon recommends.

That wording is there to catch people using their phone to download torrents or illegally tether, it's also several years old.
