What programs do I need to create a ringtone and upload it to the phone? What steps do I need to take?

The Samsung Trance is a qualcomm phone, so the ringtones use the .qcp format - I'm thinking you need software to convert from .mp3 to .qcp. To find conversion software, try doing a search at Softpedia or Cnet Downloads using the keyword "qcp". Once you have ringtones in the correct .qcp format, the phone should theoretically recognize them. You could also try BitPim (also available on Softpedia) which is a GPL open source program designed to work with Qualcomm phones - I don't know if it will work with the Trance, but it may be worth trying. Just be sure to read the fine print on this program so you don't end up bricking your phone! Good luck.
