Rebotting? Am I alone in this?

I have been noticing recently me Storm will rebott on its own randomly. Sometimes up to 3X a day. The issue began maybe about a week ago and not usually while I am using the phone....mainly the phone is just laying next to me and I glance over and see the white restarting screen.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Can someone explain to me how to fix and why it is doing this?

Thanks in advance.

I am on Storm #5 because of this. I know customer is aware that this occurs. They are hoping some firmware upgrades will help this. I am at the brink of going back to the Curve. I feel your pain and hope this gets corrected for you both.

Random rebooting I have read is a common problem. What OS are you running?

I am using .75. Have been itching to try one of these leaked updates but I have been wary of it since they are not official.

I notice you are always posting hawkeye and see you are in tune with the Storm and its happenings so do you suggest I keep waiting for an official Verizon update or just try .90? What version are you running?

Thanks

I downloaded .90 last night and installed.

I think .75 has random rebooting issues that appear to have been fixed in the leaked versions. No guarantee though.

If it's frustrating you to no end or are on the verge of returning your phone for it, can't hurt to try a leaked version. Thousands already have.

If you can hang on a little while, VZW will get an official version out soon I would expect

Thanks brother...I think I am gonna try .90.

Now forgive my ignorance but how do I dl it? I follow the hyperlink on my Storm and it automatically will install or what?

Is there certain steps I gotta follow to ensure I don't knock a satellite out of the atmosphere? (j/k)

🤣

Just download the .exe file to your PC
click on the .exe. file and run the program which will install it in the Blackberry Desktop Manager software that came with the phone
Open up Desktop Manager and connect the blackberry to the computer.
It should hopefully say there is a software update and take it from there.

There is a link somewhere there that gives info on how to install and the pitfalls

lol. the satalite comment is pretty funny. as far as installing, you need to use the desktop software. download the file to the computer and install it, the start the desktop software and plug in the storm, it will probably say 'new software found, would you like to update now?' i say no, because it usually tries to put you back to the official release from vzw (.75). then click application loader, then update software. it will search, then give you a list of available software. check the box next to .90, and hit next a couple more time and bam, it will start workin, take about 30-40 mins, then be all done.

hope this helps, feel free to ask more 🙂

i noticed the problem more with .75, and .83, but not as much with .86 which i had for a while. i have only had .90 for an hour or two, but it is definently the best so far. i say try out .90, and if it doesnt help, just flash back to .75 and exchange/return it. just dont try to return/exchange while running a leaked version, as im not sure what the policy is for that. good luck!
