Has anyone used the Storm Global Yet?

I'm leaving for Jamacia in Feburary and wondered if anyone has used out of country. Does it work well?

And will Verizon unlock it so that it can be used with a local SIM?

I used the global feature. I had a previous global phone from verizon and all I had to do was make sure the phone was set to global and it would connect to the correct network. However with the storm i had to select the actual network myself otherwise it would just keep connecting to the most powerful network at the time and since Verizons contract is not with all networks I would get 911 service only.

Once I figured out the connection issues, it seemed to work fine except that for some odd reason some people were calling me and my phone number was connecting to a random french man. It even did this once when I tried to connect to my voicemail from my phone.

Txting seemed to work well along with the internet features except a few ...

That's good to know tkdamy! I will be getting the Storm next month. I have been a Verizon customer for the past 9+ years! Yes, I was with them when they were AirTouch or whatever they were called before lol

Im glad the Storm is a Global phone, as I do TONS of international travel and all the phones I get from Verizon aren't global phones. So what I end up doing is buying a prepaid plan in whatever country I'm in and use their piece of crap phone for the few weeks I am there.

That's funny your calls would get intercepted to another number. I'm going to Dubai this May and I hope that does not happen to me. I'll be sure to post a thread on my experience using the Storm in Dubai! 😁
