Anyone thinking of buying the Storm, read this review first.

It is the most brutal review I have seen yet, and the closest to the experience I am my friends have had with the Storm.

I don't own this phone and do not plan on it. I am not into Blackberry's, but thought I could give an opinion anyway. How sad it has such a low rating. Isn't Verizon embarrased? Way too much hype over something that is so awful to so many that have gotten it. My son has the LG Dare and LOVES it!! No problem with it at all. So if anyone is considering the Dare, it had way better reviews than this thing. The Dare is way too cool, I feel. He is so glad he got it for his upgrade from the EnV, which he loved also. He wanted to try a touchscreen. No regrets on his part. Even if they work out the massive bugs, I don't feel it would live up to all its hype. Another loser for Verizon, what else is new? It's like the Boulder push to talk that was sooo...

This is silly. Those considering the LG Dare should not be considering a Storm.

Those just looking for a "cool phone" should shop elsewhere because they will not like what this phone is.

Blackberrys in general are more business oriented. They now recently have been adding cameras, music players, etc. to their devices but they till are primarily a business oriented phone.

Hey hawk! I understand what you're saying. There are quite a few people on this website that compare the Storm to other touchscreens. That's all I was saying. I never wanted a Blackberry and neither did my son. There are other people on here making that comparison of the Storm and other touchscreens. I have a flip phone, and always will. I'm not crazy about touchscreens, and my son knows it's a business phone pretty much, he just wanted to get a touchscreen after the EnV. So that's all. He never considered the Storm and neither did I. Thanks for replying!

I'd still be getting flip phones if I could get away with using them. they are typically smaller, lighter, and more straightforward to use.

Just need the full email capabilities smartphones have.
Smartphones are more computers with phone applications somewhere in them.

Nothing wrong with that, and I agree! Nothing wrong with Smartphones. Everyone needs to get what they need. Thanks for the response!

Like I said before...here we go again. Phone is out one week and reviews are scaring people. When will you people learn? Remember the Motorola 815, 710, razr? All of them got nailed by pro reviewers if you want to call them that. Who really cares?

In summary, the phone is just fine. Yes, software patches will fix some things so be patient.
What cracks me up is the Apple fanboys love this because it has happened to them twice and their phone still falls short. Also, what amazes me the most out of these forums is how everyone including the reviewers, totally ignore the most basic reason for having a cell phone. For the Apple fanboys who can only play muscis for lack of signal, it's okay. Blast away at the Storm...at least I can cal...

Your blind devotion to your employer is amusing but this phone is a failure not only with it's software but with it's ill conceived screen design. As so many reviewers have pointed out, this phone should never have made it past the beta level and needs to be redesigned from the bottom up. It is so obvious that Verizon oand RIM rushed this out to compete with AT&T for the holidays due to the fact that the iPhone 3G was listed on so many of the major electronics publications (including Consumer Reports) as a "must give" item this year.

This phone is way more than just a 'business' phone. And wait to see what it can do when the app store is launched.

Yea, can't wait! I guess I am really saying that BB has business roots. I think casual users will hate it.

Apples app store is one of the best things about iphones. This is needed for BB 😁

Compliment? I woudl say that is 😁
Add me to the "fanboy" list 😁

Fernboy has some very valid points. This is a good phone (I have one and love it)

Its complex and more business oriented than most phones, but thats what Blackberrys are all about.

Those looking for just the next "wow" or "cool" phone without understanding what a Blackberrys aim is should pass this phone up. It will be too much for them.

I have a Storm and it's not nearly the monster the whiners are making it out to be.

The first couple of days of owning the phone I couldn't agree with you more about text entry, but my accuracy is improving a lot as the days go by. This phone takes time to master. It's not for people with little patience.

I would not recommend the Storm or ANY touch screen phone for heavy email or text writers. Physical keyboards are still the way to go for those people.

Right now as we write, the Storm is emailing me of your replies to my posts even before my Mac computer is getting them...sweet phone 😁

It doesn't matter how many days you have it. The fact that there is a single button for all the keys is a serious flaw. No matter how used to it you get the physical limitation of only being able to press a single key at a time is still present.

I agree 100%! After a week with the Storm, I don't see what all the whining fuss is about! The only issue I've had at all is the minor lag. Aside from that, the phone works wonderfully.

But when you have people on here like rckstr4life reviewing the phone before they even own it, it's no wonder people are getting to focused on all the negative reviews.

People just need to give it a little more time before crucifying the thing!

There are only two or three fanboys (most likely highschool aged Verizon sales reps) on this sight defending this phone. Anyone with a brain can see what the popular opinion of this phone has been from the technologies experts and web sites.

Even with the fanboy reviews (and fanboys usually post several under different log ins) the phone cannot even maintain a 3 star rating.

Look, I have nothing to gain by defending the Storm. I'm simply stating the facts as I see them. I'm just not having problems with it. Everything works great for me. I can type just fine on it and even what little lag there is hasn't been enough of an issue for me to complain about it.

In regards to the 'technologies experts and web sites', I've always been picky with product reviews of anything. It's one thing for reviewers to focus on an actual defect (such as the minor lag on the Storm), but to say it's inefficient to type on is complete opinion. Some people will probably never be able to leave the physical keyboard for a touchscreen keyboard, but for me it's not an issue. I type at average speeds on phones as it is, so it works perfec...

So, he clearly states he tried it before he bought it and that it had serious problems. That is pretty consistent with what all the professional reviewers are saying too. So many of them are making a point to say that the phone is so bad that they hated it within the first 15 minutes. The flaws are so obvious that many websites are questioning how RIM ever let this device get past beta.

Look, if you want to put a lot of weight in a review from a guy with nothing more than a single review and 0 forum posts here (kind of fishy if you ask me)...who doesn't even own the phone! (even more fishy)...power to you. As for me, I read the forum posts and reviews and consider all the data, and seeing that the phone has been out for a whopping 1 whole week now, many of the reviews are missing that 'day-to-day usage' factor.

I used the Storm for a few solid days before posting my review, and I acknowledged the lag issue. It is something that Verizon/Blackberry need to address, but for me, it's not so inconvenient to be a deal breaker.

I have absolutely nothing to gain by defending the Storm. At the same time, since I have first han...

So where can I find these 'reviews from the pros'? I've never heard of 'reviews from the pros'. Are they a league of super heroes or something? (sarcasm was here)

Look 'dude'...I DON'T CARE WHAT ONLINE REVIEWERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THE STORM (especially the ones who don't even own it yet)! I have one of my own that I've been able to use exclusively for a week now and I like it! And once again, as I've already said countless times, I agree with everyone who says there is lag...I just don't seem to be experi...

I do not know what FCSdude considers a pro but the reviews on sites such as CNET, Phonedog, etc, which I put a lot of faith in, are not favorable at all.

I think those reviews are more a testimony as to how bad the current software is on the phone. Although some absolutely hate the physical design of the keyboard too.

The quality of the hardware is very good. Software issues can be solved as long as its a good manufacturer and a carrier doesn't meddle too much in it's release.

Lots of phones out there that don't get good support thrown behind them. RIM is not one to release a phone and forget about you. Otherwise people would leave in droves.

Palm forgot about me and look where they went in the last couple of years...straight down ☚ī¸

Now Playboy...why can't the 'dude' play nice like you? I agree with you that more of the negative reviews have a lot more to do with the software. All the other stuff is just a matter of opinion...and we all have one of those! Some will like the hardware look, feel and features...others will not. Simple matter of opinion.
Thanks for the input PlayboyP.!
