No WiFi No Buy!
So this isn't the best choice for you. For me a great up grade. I don't need the internet at this point. Love my Dare but some of the extra's it offers I like.
This is a CDMA-only phone. Consequently, you'll need the "Internet" to make a voice call with Skype using WiFi when you are in place which does not have CDMA service. Most of the world outside of the US does not provide CDMA service.
2. Only Smartphones on VZW can run skype. This is not a smartphone, therefore it can't run skype. If you think you need/want skype, you aren't looking at this phone anyway.
3. This is a feature messaging phone with an html web browser. VZW wants you to browse the web and pay for megabyte usage. They don't want you to get their phone at a subsidized price then use free wifi to make free skype calls. Get a computer for that.
4. Bottom line is, not every phone is made to do everything. Don't bash on it because it isn't made to do what you need in a phone.
5. If you are...

What I would like to know is what phones have Wifi that arn't classified as smartphones (Either Windows mobile, palm, or Blackberry). To my knowledge no major carrier has one.
Just because it's a touch screen doesn't mean it's a smartphone.
If verizon had the need for a verizon@home service, then you might see wifi-dumbphones.
Plus, doesn't skype make a wifi phone? I could've sworn I saw one advertised a couple years back.
Plus, if Verizon was so big on blocking wifi, why are there phones on verizon's network that offer it? Not many, but they do exist. If verizon was all about crippling wifi, there would be NO phones on their network with it.
The phones that have wifi capability have it even on Verizon's network. Those that don't have the chip can't have wifi.
they might have chose to not have it, but they dont block it if the device comes with it.

Wildyorkie: First, non-smartphones do feature WiFi. Example: http://phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=1806
Second, without WiFi or a GSM or WCDMA chip, this phone won't work in Europe and most of the rest of the world. For those of us who travel internationally, that's really important.
Otherwise, this is a nice phone for stay in the U.S. types.
You know why it features that right? Because Tmobile offers a wifi-service where you can make unlimited calls from a wifi-hotspot for an additional fee.
Verizon offers nothing like that.
For world travelers, there are BB world phones for Smartphone uses, and phones like the Z6TV for normal users. if you travel internationally a lot, it's typically for business so worldsmartphones are typically worth the cost.
As carriers switch to LTE there will be more phones that work internationally. There will also be more wifi phones on verizons network soon, but I highly doubt they'll be dumbphones considering there is no verizon@home service to use that capability for.
