So I have about 10GB worth of songs on my iPhone 3G and my CDs were stolen. My friend at work was able to transfer his songs from his iPod to his computer why can't I? I have used google and downloaded a few random programs that ended up being viruses... anyone with a good trustworthy program that is free????????? I am willing to pay for it if it is not free....

The iPhone is not made to transfer files back to your computer but only from your computer to the iPhone. On a Blackberry or any other phone using a Micro SD card or other comparable memory you are able to "drag and drop"files from one place to another but not on iPhone. You have to sync with iTunes which will wipe all songs from the phone if the same songs are not in the library on your computer.. what I would like to do is take the 10GB of songs off of my iPhone and copy them back to my computer... I called apple and they said it cannoe be done but I know there has to be a third party application that can do just what I need to do.... `

this doesnt make sense, if you put the music on your iPhone that means you have the songs downloaded to itunes on your CPU so just burn the CD's from itunes

ok your CD's were stolen, your computer has a virus... that has nothing to do with your songs not being in your iTunes. in order to put the songs onto your iphone you have to rip them into iTunes first then AFTER the CD is in iTunes you can sync the music to your iPhone! it sounds like you stole the iphone and you want the music off of it. 👀

As far as I know, there is a programm for iPods out there to put the music from it onto your PC. unfortunately I don't know the name or anything else. But I'd think if there's something out for the iPod, y not for the iPhone?

I recently lost my PC hard drive and was able to use a 3rd party app called iGadget with reasonable success to restore songs and videos. It cost about $15. You had to also download net framework from Microsoft (kind of large file) but it worked.

iPods can be used as removable hard drives by enabling "disk mode". iPhones cannot.

Am I the only person that reformats my computer on a regular basis? Thanks for the reply about Igadget it worked great! I wish iTunes worked a little better at the whole transfer process now that they have a product other than a simple iPod that was only used for music. I have now switched over to a Blackberry Bold and LOVE it! There are no crashes, the 4.6 OS is seamless and has lots of features that 4.2 didn't for the Curve. The screen is better than the iPhone. The one downside is how nice the touch screen worked with the iPhone (when it worked). I love being able to transfer music using my 16GB micro SD card that I got on eBay for $80 which is just as much space as an iPhone. The video record feature is great as well!

I, too, am interested in the Bold. As a former BB user though, I'm initially skeptical that it can provide the same level of integration for the multimedia experience as iPhone.

I don't use the iPhone for office work. Primarily for entertainment and organization. You've been happy- so far- with using the music and movie player on the Bold?

I had a chance to play with the Bold and the screen IS great. Also played with the yet-to-be released HTC Fuze. It's WinMo and a bit heavy but it was also nice.

I got the bold last monday and it is great! One thing that I love much more on the bold as compared to the iPhone is the ability to drag and drop songs to and from the Bold since it is not possible on the iPhone unless you sync to iTunes. Also I love the GPS function much more on the Bold. I was always having issues dropping calls and with the phone crashing when I had the iPhone and have not had that issue with my blackberry.

The thing about HTC and windows mobile is that it is very unreliable much like windows on your home computer. Blackberry OS has been reliable and more secure all along and the email functionality is easier and more dependable.

Thanks for the reply. I've had no real issues with my iPhone and only use iTunes anyway but I long for a real keyboard and some of the "basic" features that Apple seems to be in no hurry to provide.

I'm going to have to consider this. I was blown away by the Bold's screen.

Thanks again~

The one that really caught my attention is the BB Storm. Check that out. Makes me wish I didn't upgrade to the G3.

The Storm looks cool, I must admit. But I'd never switch to Verizon.

I'm interested to see how the screen works, too. My sister has Verizon and will likely get the Storm. I'll definitely be checking it out. Of course, all this assumes they actually release it. Latest rumor us Nov. 24, no?
