Does jailbreaking your iphone somehow preclude from using ’official’ apps or updates? For example, if I get an iphone 3G and jailbreak it, when its time to do a firmwear update, connect to itunes or try and get something on the Apps Store I wont, not be able to, because of some kind of ‘Error this is not an officially recognized unit because I f’ed with it’ message; will I? I realize it might be to early to answer, the 3g iphone isn’t even out yet of course, but did anyone have any troubles of that sort with their generation 1 iphone? Really I want to have my cake and eat it to. To use the iphone and all the ’official’ things it can do, but still add all the cool little jailbroken stuff too.

Fist off all, we do not know if you can do a jailbreak on it yet. and second the first iphone you could jailbreak but if you tried to up date or anything it would re-lock it.

Oh i see. I didn't own the first one so I had no idea thatupdateingmeantrelocking. Did you also lose all yourjailbrokenapps as well as therelockwhen you updated? For the sake ofargumentI'm going to assume someone will eventually jailbreak the new one. Anyhow, with yourjailbrokenphone were you still able access and download fromitunesor did the jailbreak somehowinterferwith that?
