The thing I am wondering is in the original iphone the airplane mood killed off the wireless Internet 😳 . My question is will the 3G have the ability to access the Internet in airplane mode?

No, the entire point of airplane mode is to stop all wireless signals that might interfere with an airplane's telemetry, while still allowing the device to be used for iPod functions.

Wireless internet uses GSM signals, ever set your phone down next to some computer speakers? Sounds irritating, huh? Pilots probably don't appreciate radio signals from the phones of 200 assholes stuttering in their headphones either.

Yes, it does sound annoying but blackberry's and other devices can turn off the cellular transmission but still access the Wi-Fi. That and the Ipod touch has the Wi-Fi but not the cellular transmitter.

if you want to access wi-fi while making no GSM transmissions you can pull the SIM too...

but yeah, i guess it would be more convenient to just have a profile for it... there isn't one? i haven't picked one up yet.
