So it seems to me like the iPhone 3G is basically Apple trying to get into the true Business Class device. Most of the RIM and iPhone 3G capabilities are similar, only the packaging is different- and with the mandatory data pack up to $30.00 a pop- the price point for the service is very similar as well. We'll just have to see if iPhone email push is as good as RIM's has been.
I, for one, am prepared for an old fashioned show-down in the smartphone world. (P.S. I'm hoping that Microsoft loses in a big way while these two giants fight it out.)
What are the real differences between an iPhone and a late-model Blackberry? Here are my thoughts:
RIM advantages:
1: Super-fast secure email delivery
2: Wide portfolio of capable devices...

Ok morons please read the Blackberry is much better than the I phone. The updated I phone is a piece of junk. Yes it has a great browser, visual voice mail, and an Ipod, but lets look at the minuses. No media card slot. No user removable battery. Because Apple wants to be the only ones to be able to make money for a new battery. They don't want third party vendors to make knock offs because they would lose money. No MMS, no video capture, and no flash and this is supposed to be a multimedia phone. No voice activated dialing and no cut and paste. And you have to use it on the AT&T network. Which means poor call quality, dropped calls, and a small footprint for 3G since they are behind the times. And when you get millions of people using their...

Why do you always have to name call? I do agree that Blackberry is a great device all around though.

Honestly alot of this stuff doesnt matter...alot more people bought the iphone than blackberries last year..alot alot...and will outsell blackberry from now til the end of time...duh!
no removable battery- never cared about switching or floppin those and bout time it died completley id have a new iphone

I like knowing that if my phone goes out I can try to take the battery out to diagnose the problem. You on the other hand have to make an appointment with apple and wait a few hours. You don't know the amount of people that bought blackberries,I'm sure if you did you would have mentioned the actual numbers but since you do not know your statement about more iphone buyers than blackberry is bogus.

Doesn't BlackBerry outsell iPhone like 3 to 1?
...
Doesn't BlackBerry have more phones then Apple by a 3 to 1 ratio? Yeah, your a complete ****ing dumbass. Learn your **** before you talk talking.

Doesn't BlackBerry have more phones then Apple by a 20 to 1 ratio? Apple is an exclusive carrier to just AT&T, while BlackBerry has multiple phones with almost every carrier in the entire nation. You can only compare other exclusive carrier phones to others, like for example, the Voyager, which the iphone has completely demolished in sales. Yeah, your a complete ****ing dumbass. Learn your **** before you talk talking.

I was asking a question, not making any statements, so why are you name calling???
Geez, folks like you make these forums unbearable
...
That question was just pure stupidity. And that didn't seem like a question at all, it seemed like a statement..from someone who clearly has no idea what in the hell he's talking about. All of these people hating on the iphone don't have any idea what they are even thinking or saying. Apple has created a revolutionary phone that is like no other ever made, and has become not only a status symbol, but a phone that will be talked about for years.

nicely put Charlie rim has a boat load of devices but none are like the iPhone blackberrys sold more for a lot of reasons ... Exchange email , price, almost every service provider has rim devices... Every company is going to follow suit look at samsung, LG, HTC... The list goes on with iPhone copy cats... Blackberry will put out a copy cat to you'll see

I agree but Apple is advanced. They are also very greedy and want to control everything. I am sure the 3G iPhone will be great but also, from what I've read the the new RIM Thunder (full touch) will be better. It is supposed to have everything the iPhone has plus all the missing goodies. Apple wants a business type phone but as good as the iPhone is, still has a way to go to catch RIM. As far as the networks, I have had both att & vzw. Call me any name you want, vzw is superior. I agree att is much clearer but has too many dropped calls and 'errors'. Very rarely ever dropped a call from vzw - but their phones suck. Push email, not my bag. I have a mac for 15 years and love apple and the 2G, but feel left out in the cold with all the missing...
