Very old AT&T Blue SIM card ---- Help me AT&T Employees!

I have a very old AT&T Blue SIM card and plan. I get 850 minutes per month with 7pm night and weekends for $32 + tax.

I really want to keep my current plan! Can I just add a $30 unlimited data plan to my account and activate the SIM card that will come with the 3G iPhone?

Or will they say I need to sign up with a new plan? I don't mind the 2 year agreement ... I just don't want to lose my current plan!

Please help!

With a 2G iPhone, you'd have to jailbreak it. Otherwise it won't play nice with any SIM except Cingular/New AT&T. If they switch you to a new SIM, they'll insist on changing your rate plan too.

humm... not so sure AT&T will force you to change. I have my OLD GTEMobilnet plan from 1995 (analog at the time) with the data plan on my iPhone now.

it is 150 min (100 with 50 free) first min free. no long distance to any number in state from home area and no roaming anywhere in state... all for $23 🙂

Then the $20 data plan required for the iPhone.

Change to 3G yes but keep same calling plan with added Data plan... that is what they did to this customer.

I've encountered a few cases like that. OTOH, I've routinely dealt with cases where old AWS customers who upgraded HAD to give up their old plans. There is a billing system prohibition against having an "orange" (Cingular/New at...

Even though at&t and Cingular merged as one company there are still 2 billing systems. Blue (old AT&T) and Orange (new AT&T).

In order to get the 2G or 3G iphone you MUST be on the new Orange billing system. That means that if you have a Blue rate plan it MUST be changed to a new Orange rate plan.

In addition, the data plan for the 3G iphone will now be $30 instead of the 2G $20.

Yep, they are all correct. You will have to switch over. Our billing systems dont allow you to stay with a grandfathered plan and especially with the 3G network.
