Does anybody know if sprint will enable picture mail on the curve anytime soon? I saw a few articles saying that they will enable it for the mogul and touch with winmo6.1 but haven't seen anything with the blackberry phones. this phones looks awesome but i NEED picture mail (and using the email address to send pictures via email is stupid).

I have heard no rumors of MMS for sprint users. My guess is that if they havent done it before, they prolly won't start now. I would just keep an eye on this forum and maybe some of the other tech blogs and hopefully sprint will provide a solution for you.

Switch to Verizon for what? So we can have MMS but loose TV? Be forced to use Verizon's navigator? Be nickled and dimed for every feature available that isn't crippled already? No thanks. We will stick with E-mailing pictures for now.

Is this thread dead yet?

TV isn't a huge deal to me personally. Sprint has a few advantages, but unfortunately they are far over shawdowed by their DISadvantages. The real point of this thread is that sprint should have MMS. Its pathetic that they don't have it and Sprint users shouldn't be making excuses or justifications as to why they dont allow it.

I totally agree. They should have MMS, but my point is Verizon isnt perfect either. TV isn't important to you but to the next person it might be. Anyway you look at it, it is a cool feature that Verizon doesn't offer on the Curve. I switched from Verizon to Sprint over three years ago because of constant billing issues. Sprint's billing has had fewer issues but sometimes the technical support/customer service has been very bad. I've had the Pearl and now Curve along with several Nextel phones for my business and will hang in with Sprint a little longer but no carrier can beat all that comes with Sprint's Blackberries. Most of my friends have blackberries but I do have three friends that wish I wish I could use the MMS feature. Would I ...

Wow! ๐Ÿ˜ณ It takes what 3 minutes tops to send as an email. About the same amount of time to confirm that you actually want to send the picture with mms.

The reason for different carriers? Simple, everyone prefers different options.
Remember just because one guy loves Verizon doesn't mean it'll work out for you. I've had people say they never had a problem with Sprint they love the service, and then we have those others. Not everyone is going to be satisfied. Also plenty of times I've heard people say Verizon sucks, and their phones aren't great believe it or not that goes back to each's own. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes it should. And most of Sprint's followers only brag about their cheap rates. Yes, to each his own- which is why I'd rather pay Verizon for service that works and reps that go out of their way to help their customers. That $$ is going to train people to do their job and do it well. Verizon employees have consistently talked me out of getting phones I don't really need, at the expense of a commission, because they listen to me and figure out what I want and need. That, IMHO, is why Verizon will still be around in 5 years and Sprint...well, I don't know what will happen to Sprint. We'll see.

an optional program that few people prolly use anyway is not that big of a deal. Taking away picture messaging is a HUGE deal.

I really don't think you can compare vznav to not allowing pix messaging. Plus, you can still get vznav! They didn't lock down the entire gps nav system.

People on these forums seem to forget, CELL COMPANIES ARE BUSINESS TO MAKE MONEY!!! thats why they lock things like vznav so that you have to ue their products. Att does the same thing. And guess who's number 1 and 2 in wireless? You see my point. Sprint gives all this stuff away, and look where it gets them.

Don't feel bad, they're not stuck with the device for a lifetime. That's another reason why I tell people to do their research before getting these PDA phones. I've had to live a few times without picturemail. When I switched back to phones that did have mms I didn't use it much. Doesn't bother me to send as email, just save it in your phone with the phone number and email then you can copy and paste.

having worked for 3 different cell phone companies, tmobile, verizon & sprint, it is the same every where, you get the same customers with every company complaining about the exact same thing. "my bill is always messed up, i have poor coverage, i have have been with you for 2 years i feel i deserve such and such, i can get this with so and so company" the world is just full of ridiculous people who feel these cell phone companies all owe them something when they forget the company is providing them with a service, and they are not charities. so stop your complaining. all companies are the same overall, some with better customer service than others yes, but in the end the top providers are all the same imho

MMS for RIM Blackberries has nothing to do with the network or Sprint. Blackberry is proprietary and just like Microsoft refuses to allow Sprint to modify their operating system to enable picture mail and other Sprint Exclusive features. Sprint is the most intuitive and revolutionary wireless carrier with the best network to back it up but all across the board both RIM & Microsoft halt us from making any additional changes to their operating systems. In addition, these phones are designed for business professionals specifically using the device for business corporate email. These phones were not designed for the casual user. Wow...

First, verizon and sprint are not identical. I know they share some roaming agreements, but they are far from identical. And what good is having such a great data network when every other facet of your company stinks.

Second, if RIM and Microsoft don't want to make changes to the device--then how come verizon has MMS enabled? MMS is a sprint issue, NOT a RIM or microsoft issue. If sprint wants to have MMS on their smartphones, then they need to make it priority and get it done!

Lastly, how can you say that BB's are only for business users and not the casual user. Have you been living in a cave for the past two years? Why do you think they made the pearl and curve? Those devices were specifically made for the consumer m...

I am a longtime Sprint Customer and have stuck with them despite some pretty pathetic customer service "at times." My business uses both Sprint and Nextel phones. Your answer is logical except for one thing. Why can all the other carriers utilize MMS with Blackberry and Sprint can't? In other words, why wont Blackberry allow the service with Sprint but allow it with other carriers with Blackberries? Just because I am using my BB for business use does not mean I don't need so send pictures to a cell phones. It all depends on the business you're in. MMS should be available on Sprint PDAs and if Sprint is really interested in competing for business should negociate adding this feature ASAP and stop making excuses.

Moral of this post is, if someone send you those funny forwards you CAN forward them using picture mail without the email. BUT if you initiate the picture mail (sending a picture from your album) you have to send as an email.
Hope this helps.

Oh and by the way, they haven't said anything about adding the MMS on. If anything you should complain to Blackberry because those are the guys that have to come up with the software update if it happens.
