Is the Phone for Me?
Next week it will be time to trade in my LG VX8700 (New Every 2). I'm uncertain which phone I want to go with, but I've been looking at the Dare since it came out last summer.
I am not a texter, but do like to get my emails and perhaps the option to quickly surf the net to find info. However, the ability to receive and actually hear my calls is the most important feature.
Everything I've read points me to the Dare, but is Verizon ready to roll something else out in the next few months to replace the Dare? If so, I want to wait. It seems I've always just a few months behind the curve when it comes to phones, so I want to get the best bang for the buck.
Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

Well, except when companies roll off anything new, there are often issues and glitches that take software updates to fix if they're fixed at all...often more than once. The Dare is tried and true and it's fantastic. You should keep that in mind when you're worrying about missing out on the next best thing...

I too am a phone user, I picked one up yesterday and so far I am really liking this thing. It's simple to use, I can scroll without selecting items accidentally, the text keyboard works great...only missed letters are my fault...and it's easy to lock. As with my last LG, the voice recognition is excellent (have had KRZR for the last 2 years and it's horrible!), when on the phone you can select speaker, keypad, or a host of other options very easily. I haven't found any issues with this thing yet. I like the fact that the screen dims when in close proximity to my face as well. As soon as you remove it the lights come back on.
I have a AT&T Tilt for work and this thing is LIGHT YEARS ahead of that one.
Oh yeah, it's lighter than...

I dont see any phone "replacing" the dare. I dont know of any new releases in the very near future, so it would be either the DARE or the STORM (as far as new VZW phones).
The only thing is that with the STORM, you are obligated to sign up for the data package, where as the DARE everything VZW offers (Navigation, VCast, TXT plans) are all an option.
