the only things u really cant do with music is take pic/vid, view vids, and make phone calls. (i might have forgotten one or two) 🙂

What he ^ said. You can listen to your music and do SOME things. In your case, yes you can txt too.

Anything that taxes the CPU will cause music to pause briefly, as well. Discovered this while looking at storage info while listening to music a little bit ago.
