Software Update

Ok so I have called Verizon to get the update to sw version 5 and basically when I call tech support they told me the update does not exist. Also that the update for the Venus as well does not. They told me the version software we have in our phones, 3, is the latest. Any reason they would say this? I live in the Ft. Myers FL area if it has anything to do with it.

i also called tech support here out in california. They said there was a new software update, SW version VX970V04. That's supposedly the latest update, makes browser and touch response faster.

It appears that this new V5 was released in certain regions of the country/state. Best bet is to call your local Authorized Verizon stores to see if they have it. Since its not an official update, CS reps will not see this on their system.

I wanted to go from v3 to v5 went to my verizon store in natick mass the tech told me it would take a hour and i might lose everything on the phone possibly. I went home checked out humpa's website and with a little work got the 9700 dll, the 9700 v5 bin and the LGNPST app and the charging cable and upgraded it myself. Took 15 minutes and nothing was lost. The screen is brighter and the scrolling is much improved.

I got mine upgraded to v5 about a month ago at a corporate store in Port St Lucie, FL. It took about an hour and I didn't lose anything. At first I thought I lost all my pictures on the SD card but they suddenly reappeared. So I would recommend taking the card out first.
My bluetooth headset now works great. Before, it couldn't understand a thing I said.
The internet is faster too.
As long as you have account access online, you can use Backup Assistant for free so even if you lost your contacts, you can get them back. It says it costs $1.00(I think) and you accept that but they don't charge you.
