Weird Song Issue
Got the V05 update taken care of. Now here is the issue. Put mp3's on my 8GB card...total of 1000 songs. When I insert the card into the phone, it recognizes 1999 songs. Then this...for example Call Me (by Blondie...sorry for the pun) shows up twice:
1) Call Me
2) ._Call Me
The first one is the song...no problem. The second one is ???? I can't erase it and it messes up the shuffle feature.
Anyone else see this issue? Can you help me out here?

Did you format the SD card before loading data onto it?

I did indeed format the card. I spoke to both Verizon techs and LG techs and they both gave me some BS that made no sense. Problem unresolved. 😕

it could be with the song info. if you stick the card in the computer, highlight a song, right click and select properties. the file info has to be less then x amount of characters or it wont play (i dont know the exact amount). also, if there are strange characters (, . _ /) it wont work. i havent heard of the duplicate song problem, but i would just get the phone replaced. or take your phone to a store and put your card in the new dare and see if problem persists. i would replace the phone. i have had my dare since july9 (i think) with no issues. i did get my software updated to v.05.
let us know what happens 🙂

DO NOT REPLACE your phone as someone else suggested. Bet your on a Mac. Mac iTunes has an underlying metadata file that DOS and the Dare interprets as another song you need to get rid of the metadata info and those extra Phantom files will disappear. Get KopyMac and drop your files on it and it will remove the metadata that is giving you a fit. If you have system 10.5, there is also a terminal command to remove the metadata material but I have forgotten the specific instructions for the removal process.
On the Howard Forums site this was offered as a solution (but I have not tried it):
1800Collect 1800Collect is offline

Yes...MAC iTunes is the evil force behind the "._" fiasco. 👿 I did get it worked out though.
