I have AT&T and iphone but my Dad had Verizon and LG Dare. He just got the phone this week and here on phone scoop it say that the phone had PC SYNC, so I hook it up to the computer and then try to sync with contacts in outlook and I dont have any options on the phone to do this, so I call verizon and they tell my the only way to do this is to buy a $20 a month subscription to so kind of service and I tell them noway. Is this true can you really not sync verizons top phone with outlook with out pay to do so? If this is true I will just tell him to cancel and go with ATT and iphone,my iphone is so much nice and easyer to use and I can make ring tone for it as well with out having to pay to get them on the phone. Before some of you start to ta...

Before you start trashing the dare you need to realize we don't pay for our ringtones either we just send them free through MMS (oh waite that is right Iphone does not support MMS)and I sync through bluetooth with outlook all the time. I would suggest syncing through bluetooth, plus you need to change the sync detection to DATA from Music on the phone. YOu probably never thought of using bluetooth since the Iphone has the most locked down bluetooth out there. he can also get backup assistant for free and that will keep all his numbers backed up on network if he ever needs to get them back.

see..to each their own, personally not having MMS and be locked into a $30 data package no matter what and then they strip bluetooth profiles off of it....ALL looks like BS to me. I can link my music through my car stereo, walk in my house and sync my calender with outlook through bluetooth, send a free ringtone through mms, Then forward it to any of my friends through mms. These are all things I enjoy about my last three phones all left off iphone. Not dogging on At&t but If I switched carriers their are better options over there then the iphone for what i need in terms of restrictions. But hey if the free phonebook backup offered on almost every verizon phone is to complicated for you then so be it.

the i phone 3G i believe that stands for 3 Good reasons not to buy.
1. NO MMS come on its almost 2009 is mac for real.

2. A substandard camera with no flash compared to the dares 3.2 with a flash oh did i mention the dare can also record videos mac must of ran out of time to add video capture but i guess it really doesn't matter since you can't send them anyway.

3. The edge 3g network performs very badly must be the reason they added the wi-fi that will not allow you to get out of the reach of the charger so the very poor quality battery will survive for the rest of the day.

"stephen5688" got owned! 🤣
Sure, the iphone has great features and looks better (in my opinion). But being locked down to certain things as previously mentioned plus the lack of a couple other features really turned me away. I bought the DARE way before it hit the public market and loved it (better than the iphone). My close bud has the iphone and he has to charge it every second, looks up wifi because his 3g network coverage sucks (Verizon's 3G network is the biggest and widest covered area, period).

I believe the politically correct tern is "iPwned"
stephen5688...If the Sync was such a big deal @ $20 a month, then you should have realized that the $30 data plan would have only made the difference $5 a month.
I would pay $5 a month for the better coverage and service Verizon has in my area. If AT&T has good coverage where you live and actually HAS 3G where you live...good for you. In the northeast, not just in my state only, I have coverage. This is why I have the Dare and VZW.
Also remember...you are expecting smartphone features out of a non-smartphone. Isn't that in itself...dumb? And it DOES have Sync capability...you just don't like paying for it.

Hell NO, why should I have to pay to sync? every phone I ever had with AT&T would do it and I did not have to pay them for it. You said I was expecting smart phone features? Do you call sync a smart phone feature. I have never owned a smart phone and could sync with all of my phones. I think Verizon has a good network but there phones SUCK. I really dont see how anyone could like the DARE over the iphone, and where we live AT&Ts network is just as good as Verizon. Yes the iphone is not a perfect phone but it is really easy to use and that is good since my Dad is 61 years old. I am 36 and have had a cell phone since 1993 but even for me the DARE was not easy to use or understand the touch screen is not even close to the iphone maybe its just ...

OMG, just becuase a rep gave you the wrong info and you were to impatient to get the correct info stop blabbing this BS in here it is flat out wrong, I sync mine through bluetooth and outlook everyday and pay $0...Ps you cannot sync through BT on iphone because they stripped the profiles off of it.
