Is there a way to assign personal ringtones/ alerts for different people when they send a text.

No you really cant assign diffrent Ringtones/alert Sounds for text's for diffrent people. What you can do is assign diffrent Ringtones/Alert sounds for Text, Picture and voice mail messages. So that you can tell what kind of message you are recieving from the diffrent sound that you assign to it. 😁
