New IPhone 3G or LG Dare?????

Hello all:

I am thinking of waiting until December to terminate my agreement with VZW and sign on with ATT to get the new IPHONE. I have 2 choices: Get the LG Dare and stick with VZW or get the IPHONE in Dec. I have heard many mixed things about this phone. Also, on the ATT Data Plan, the $70 plan allows 5000 night and weekend minutes. Is it possible to go over 5000 minutes? That seems like a lot. What would or have you people done? Has anyone else made this decision one way or another? Also, if it matters, I live in central NJ.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated!

Thanks!

Chris

First look at coverage of verizon's 3G network and AT&T's one you'll see verizon's is truely superior to AT&T's but if we don't have coverage in your area don't get a dare. the dare is honestly a superior phone on most levels;3.2MP camera, rhapsody music capable, greater area of coverage for 3G network, ect. you could argue which phone is better till you're blue in the face but it really comes down to coverage and which on you think looks better. the two phones are equals neither is superior in all honesty.

Thank you for your input Tom. Are you saying that the LG Dare also runs on 3G? I thought that all VZW phones ran on EVDO. Also, The IPHONE is loaded with features that the Dare does not have. In a perfect world, the IPHONE would be with Verizon Wireless.

please rememer that the DARE has many features the iphone does not have.

3.2 mp camera
high quality video
removable memory
removable battery
MMS!!!
Bluetooth stero
bluetooth file transfer

that was just to name a few, i could think of more, but the biggest reason is an unforced data plan. You can get the dare and build your data package, if you ever want to change it or drop it no problem. With the iphone you are paying $30 a month no matter what, you can never drop that.

And the biggest thing you need to remember!!!! If you are waiting till December the Blackberry Thunder will be out!!!!!

All good points, thanks! I don't listen to music on the phone, so no bluetooth stereo is not a big deal. I mainly use it for web surfing. I don't use the camera all that much. I do plan on giving the Thunder a full test drive before making a final decision.

I had the iPhone but I got the Dare and as soon as AT&T makes it with a replaceable battery I will get one again. The scrolling is impecable, the whole touch use is miles ahead of the Dare or Voyager

iPhone is a wonderful product but unfortunately it is only available on nsAT&T service and I will stick to verizon because they actually work better. I went with the Dare today and will get back to you with my review a little later. So far so good.

I had the Dare for 2 months then made the switch to the iPhone. I liked the Dare, but most people had a hard time hearing me on the phone. I put off moving to ATT because of all the negative press about the network. Now that I have the iPhone I have no regrets for switching. I've had no problems with dropped calls. But mostly, the UI on the iPhone is far superior to that of the Dare. That's not something that can be compared on paper. When I touch a link on the iphone it goes the first time, always. The predictive testing is amazing and makes me type faster than I could even on the Voyager. It's so easy to get music, movies, audiobooks, and podcasts on the iPhone. And there are so many accessories made for the iPhone. Try docking the Dare ...

EVDO is 3G. And like others have said VZW, Sprint, and even Alltel have had it far longer and have far more coverage than AT&T.

I've been with Verizon for over 10 years and it took me almost a year to purchase the iPhone (1st generation). I was VERY hesitant even considering switching so I kept both contracts while I evaluated the iPhone and AT&T.

So far covergae in my area(FT Lauderdale) has been acceptable with no complaints. The iPhone's touch interface and GUI experience is the BEST I've ever seen. In my opinion, there's no comparison between the Dare & the iPhone.

Don't get me wrong, there are a few things on Verizon I got used to and are missing from he iPhone ie. (MMS, Video Recording and full Camera Options) but over all I'm very pleased with my purchase of the iPhone.

I do have the 3G iPhone as well and my only complaint aside from the above mention...

Thank you Mark, that was a great review. I am leaning to the IPHONE 3G in December, when my two year commitment runs out. How is VZW service compared to ATT? Also, How is call quality on the IPHONE? Is it more expensive monthly on ATT than VZW?

If I get the IPhone 3G, it won't be until around Christmas when my 3 year contract runs out. I am absolutely going to check out the Thunder before making a decision.
