movie display size

Only one complaint with this awesome phone so far.... I converted a movie to MP4 and downloaded it to my SD card in my phone... unless i'm missing something I can't play the movie full screen, by that I mean the movie has about a 3/8" border all around it, which displays icons when you touch the screen, I want to zoom in all the way to full screen, the movies would look so much better as they would be larger... you can zoom on a photo to full screen... a widescreen movie would be perfect full screen.... anybody have any ideas???

I can't get the vcast videos full screen either... i was wondering the same thing about the movie size so i did it 3 times, all the way up to 640x480 and it's still the same size... if it can't be changed it is a real waste of the screen...

The black area on the sides (when on "full screen") is there for the menu buttons. I agree that the whole screen should be used, but the videos def look good.

Magic Video Converter ver 8 in ipod mode fills the screen. Winavimp4 converter works fast but leaves a border. Try magic video converter works for me.

Pego...

I have tried all of the iPod profiles in Magic Video Converter Ver-8 and they will not generate any file that will display in the full 400x240 pixels of DARE display...

I have created many files that will play at 400x240 in QuickTime... but when played on the DARE they are displayed at 320x192...

If I create a true 16x9 file at 400x225 the DARE plays it at 320x180...

It seems to me that the DARE restricts video playback to QVGA (320v240)... So in the landscape position the full height of the screen is usable but 40 pixels on each side of the screen become a black border being used only for the video controls...

If anyone gets a AVI/DivX/Xvid file converted to something that will play in the DARE at full screen landscap...

This is true but it is better than a border on the top and bottom as well. I like the magic video converter best.

OK... But the 320x240 display area is a 4x3 aspect ration (Old style fullscreen TV)...

Any WS movie material will usually have an aspect ratio wider than 2x1, in which case when it was displayed with a 320 width it would have less than a 160 high...

Any HD TV formated material would have an aspect ratio of 16x9 and would have a similar display problem...

Yet, if the Dare would let you use the full 400 pixel width, the 16x9 material would use 225 vertical pixels, (almost filling the entire DARE screen)...

Not to sound like a total noob (I sell 'em but I'm a noob with this stuff) but how do I do all this video business? LOL. I'm also looking to get superbad on my Dare but I have no idea how to download the movie and convert it to mp4. I wouldn't mind watching it even with the border. Question, does it play vertically & horizontally? Does the video player have that functionality as well?

I am trying to watch a movie on my Dare. I moved the file to the SD card...but, the phone is not seeing it? Do I have to do something special or does the phone automatically recognize the movie file? Thanks for any assistance!

I got it! I tried copying the files again and it worked! Thanks you really got me on the right track. I tried both the #GP and the MP4...both worked but the MP4 filled the whole screen. Thanks again!

The MP4 filled the whole screen? I've been working on this all night. I tired everything I read on here, but no luck. It's still leaving the borders on the sides of the screen. can someone who has actually got the full screen to work type out detailed information on how? I am so confused.
Thanks.
