But isn't EVDO still slower than WiFi? Why is WiFi such a big deal on the iPhone then? I wish the Dare had it.
WiFi is such a big deal on the iPhone because AT&T's data coverage SUCKS and your web browser won't work anywhere unless you're in a WiFi bubble.
The funniest thing about the new iPhone (or the old one) is that AT&T is requiring a $30 data package ($20 for the old one) for offering a service they can't provide: 3G download speeds. You'd be paying AT&T $30/month for the privilege of *NOT* using their towers and relying on your own independent WiFi setup.
Hilarious!
If you want WiFi, get a traditional Smartphone with a WiFi chip and then get no data pack. It's wa...

not to how at&t's 3g is faster than Verizon's. wifi is icing on the cake!
i will admit the dare may have more features.. BUT if you compare like features (i.e) music players, touchscreen ability, web-page rendering. the iphone wins HANDSDOWN!
stop pretending like this is the kill all device... we all know the Blackberry Thunder will probably destroy this device in capabilities.
I said nothing about the Dare in my original post. This post is about WiFi and all the hype

so I responded. The same argument holds for any VZW device. I personally don't think the Dare is THAT great, but I think the argument that 'WiFi on the iPhone is awesome is a bunch of turd. It will be faster in a WiFi bubble, but that only helps if you live in a WiFi bubble and don't mind paying the extra AT&T fee every month for the privilege of using something you've already paid your ISP provider to set up and maintain.
Also, the Dare is not a business phone so if you need REAL support for Exchange then you have to go with the iPhone.
Face it. All of your iClones are crap. Safari runs better on EDGE than most of your toy phones do on EVDO. If you have HSPDA in your area then you are in for a real treat. Not to mention all the 3rd party apps and games that run on a device with a REAL 3d graphics chip. Not that over priced BREW chit that again, you pay to play on a monthly basis.
The only iPhone killer is.... the 3G iPhone.
I don't see the point of Paying $30 for the AT&T iPhone data, then using wifi. Why pay $30 for net, when you plan on using FREE wi-fi? I would rather use the EV-DO that I am paying for. It is MOBILE web, who cares if it is super-ultra-mega fast? ITS MOBILE!!!!
Want fast internet? GET A LAPTOP!
we all know that wifi is a faster web connection than any of the mobile web connection. at&t sees itself doing favor for its customers...
think about it... wouldnt you want to give your customers the best possible solutions to their problems they have?
thats why at&t gives its iphone customer free wifi access.

Aren't we forgetting something? Like- the whole POINT of this conversation?
iPhone WiFi will be "free" when you can activate an iPhone without a data package, and no sooner. So long as there is a mandatory data subscription charge, every iPhone user is being billed $20 or $30 a month for a service that they could get for free if they simply bought an iPod Touch device.
It's an AT&T/Apple sham!

So let me get this right you are saying that the Iphone can full load a page on Edge network faster than the Rev A. Dare?? Plus you dont even know how fast the 3g on the Iphone even is cause its not even out yet. So there cant even be a comparison my lil fan boy troll.
Yes. That is what this troll is saying. I've put my iPhone up against an I760 users here in the office. My page not only loaded a bit faster but, unlike the 760, my webpage looked like the site. I was also able to navigate the site faster with the touch than he was with his DPad. Not to mention that the resolution was better. You may not know this but AT&T nearly DOUBLED the speed of their EDGE network last year for the lau...

I've come here to read about the LG Dare a variant of the very popular LG Prada.
You silly Americans and your toy phones don't impress the rest of the world.
As far as your beloved HSDPA bullsh*t wow that great that att&t is like 2 years behind in a data network and finally went 3g as sprint and VZW are about to enter 4g in the begining of 09 with LTE and WiMax. Oh and check the coverage on HSDPA it works in like 8 cities wow.....
And it maxs out at 1.7mbs and I have seen Rev A brust up to 2mbs with an Aircard and its widely availible unlike your HDSPA
Also, the Dare is not a business phone so if you need REAL support for Exchange then you have to go with the iPhone.
If you want a real business device, skip them both and get a Blackberry. Now that's a business device.
Not to mention all the 3rd party apps and games that run on a device with a REAL 3d graphics chip.
Touchscreen phone w/o real keyboard = gaming FAIL.
If you want a PSP, get a PSP- you won't be happy with an iPhone.
