Side key

On page 13 of the user manual for the LG 600g it shows the "side keys/ camera key". I have pressed this key while the flip is closed and nothing seems to happen and for that matter there are no new pictures in my gallery either. Does anybody know how to use this side key for camera mode?

To use the camera hold down the down arrow (which also has a camera icon on it) till you see the camera come up. I found this by accident when playing with it one time.
