Trying to tether with the Blackberry Pearl to my laptop.

The software is working, but I am having very, very slow download speeds.

Anyone else having problems tethering with the new Blackberry Pearl ?

Give Verizon a call @ 800-922-0204 the IVR will give you a tech support option. I haven't heard of any issues unless your getting 1XRTT speeds and not EVDO it should show on your BB when using it good luck .

Called Verizon Data Customer Service

The help desk could not get my speed up.

I now have an open ticket.

I sure hope there is a fix for my tethering issue, and hope the issue is not the phone.

I had my laptop tethered to my laptop in a manner of minutes. I had decent speed, but not as fast as my home wi-fi which I use all the time. If I couldn't find a hot-spot, it would certainly be worth keeping the broadband option on my plan. They have me the first month free with my new Pearl and select plan, but I don't think I have a need to keep it really. Good luck!

I am receiving very, very slow data speeds at my home. ( cannot open some web pages )

( Blackberry displays 4 bars and 1XEV )

Verizon technical said they came out to house, tested the area, stated I was in a weak signal area, but got tethering to work.

Their conclusion was that my BB 8130 was defective.

Swapped out the Blackberry for another 8130, and still have the same problem at home.

I can tether at work, and other locations.

When tethering at work I did a speedtest and received speeds averaging 250 kbs upload, and 50 kbs download.

Is this an acceptable speed, what kind of speed should I be seeing ?

Any suggestions ?
